How to choose

The right show for your situation

There are several shows rotating through the day at Disneyland Paris, spread over the 2 parks. Aim for 1 to 3 shows a day so you’re not running all over the place. The trick: pick the ones that really appeal to you instead of trying to see them all.

I group the shows into 5 big families: indoor stage shows, outdoor stage shows, fireworks, parades, and concerts and live entertainment. On a first visit, my bare minimum is the daytime parade, the nighttime show, and an indoor show.

Parades, fireworks, stage shows, or live entertainment: the 5 main families of shows

Category 1Daytime parades

During the parades, the streets of Disneyland Park (and now and then those of Disney Adventure World) fill up with floats, characters, and music. Disney Stars on Parade runs all year, with seasonal versions added at Halloween (Mickey’s Halloween Celebration), at Christmas (Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade!), or for World Princess Week. They’re a big draw and pull huge crowds, so stake out a spot along the route ahead of time to see well.

Category 2Fireworks and nighttime shows

Nighttime shows wrap up the day with projections, lights, fountains, and fireworks over the castle. The big event is Disney Tales of Magic at Disneyland Park, joined by Disney Cascade of Lights at Disney Adventure World and special fireworks displays such as the ones on July 14 and New Year’s Eve. Often the high point of the evening, they mean showing up early (even very early) to get a spot facing the castle.

Category 3Indoor stage shows

The indoor shows are staged in covered, air-conditioned theaters, with singing, dancing, and carefully crafted staging. Currently on the bill: The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Mickey and the Magician, TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure, and Stitch Live! A great way to escape the heat or a rain shower, and the production quality alone makes them worth it.

Category 4Outdoor stage shows

Outdoor shows play on open-air stages, often facing the castle or in the themed lands. Popular ones include "A Celebration in Arendelle" and "Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland." Shorter than the indoor shows, they set the rhythm of the day, and you watch them standing or sometimes seated, no reservation needed.

Category 5Live entertainment and concerts

Throughout the day, small live musical acts pop up here and there: marching bands, concerts, dance groups. Think Minnie’s band, Timon’s MataDance, or live music at Billy Bob’s in Disney Village. Unplanned and with no line, they’re an easy way to enjoy the vibe between two rides.

The right time slot for each show

Each show has a recommended amount of time to arrive early depending on how popular it is: 10 to 20 min for laid-back musical meet-ups, 20 to 30 min for stage shows, 30 to 45 min for parades, 45 to 60 min for the nighttime fireworks. Check the day’s schedule when you get to the park.

The 3 mistakes to avoid

Mistake 1: cramming in 12 rides and 0 shows over a whole day, which is exhausting for kids. Mistake 2: picking a seasonal show without checking the dates, since some shows only run at Halloween or Christmas. Mistake 3: getting to Central Plaza too late for the nighttime fireworks. By 22:00, there’s no room left, so aim for 21:00 instead.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, my answers

The questions that land most often in my emails and DMs. Answers with real numbers, double-checked and tested on site.

01 Are shows and parades included with your ticket?

Yes, all daytime shows, parades, and nighttime shows (Disney Tales of Magic and Disney Cascade of Lights) are included in the ticket price, in the free viewing areas. The only optional extras are the paid premium viewing spot (a reserved spot closer to the stage) and Guaranteed Access to a theater show, both sold in the Disneyland Paris app.

02 How can you check the day’s schedule for shows and parades?

In the Disneyland Paris app (under Today in the Park) or on my blog. Showtimes change every day depending on the season and crowds, so I recommend checking that same morning.

03 Guaranteed Access for €15: what is it, and which shows are eligible?

It’s a paid service that guarantees you a seat in the theater without waiting in line, for €15 per person (one price for everyone ages 3 and up). You book it in the Disneyland Paris app for the eligible shows: The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Mickey and the Magician, and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. You need a valid park ticket, and it’s in your name. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early.

04 Paid premium viewing for the nighttime shows: what is it?

A reserved section nearer the show, sold through the Disneyland Paris app. Pricing varies by show and by date. Disney asks you to arrive 10 to 30 minutes ahead of showtime.

05 Is it possible to watch both fireworks shows in one evening?

No, the two shows often happen at the same time (or slightly staggered), when each park closes. So you have to choose which one to see. With a 2-park ticket, decide ahead of time and get to the right park before the show starts.
