The right meet and greet for the character you’re after

At Disneyland Paris, running into a favorite character is often the best memory of a first trip, especially for kids. But not every meet and greet happens every day: some are permanent, others depend on the daily schedule posted in the app that same morning. Meet and greets work in 2 ways: standard, with the day’s times (you physically wait in line during the listed hours) or a virtual queue for the most popular characters (you book a time slot in the app and return at that time, with little or no wait). I sort them into 7 big families: the Disney classics (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and more), the princesses (Belle, Rapunzel, Cinderella, and more), the Marvel heroes, the Star Wars characters and Pixar characters, the Frozen characters, and everyone else (Villains and more).

Classics, princesses, heroes, villains, and more: the 7 families of meet and greets

Category 1Mickey and friends

Meeting Mickey and the gang tops every wish list at the resort. The lineup: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip ’n’ Dale. You’ll find them in both parks, at dedicated meet spots or out along the walkways, and Mickey even has a virtual queue. Perfect for that first keepsake photo, they draw crowds, so aim for morning slots to keep the wait short.

Category 2The Disney princesses

You’ll mostly meet the Disney princesses at the Princess Pavilion in Disneyland Park. Depending on the day, you might see Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Ariel, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Tiana, Moana, or Merida. Kids adore them, and these meet and greets rank among the busiest moments in the park, so bring a little patience.

Category 3The Pixar characters

Look for the Pixar characters mainly in Disney Adventure World, over in Worlds of Pixar. You can meet Woody, Jessie, Joy (Inside Out), Miguel (Coco), or the Incredibles family. Usually less mobbed than the princesses, they’re a treat for animation fans.

Category 4The Star Wars galaxy

The Star Wars characters usually turn up in Disneyland Park, especially around Discoveryland. You may spot the Mandalorian and Grogu, sometimes the BDX droids, but above all big names like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. For fans of the saga, these are memorable encounters, often with plenty of staging.

Category 5The Marvel heroes

The Marvel superheroes are waiting for you at Avengers Campus in Disney Adventure World. On the lineup: Spider-Man, Thor, Loki, Black Widow, Black Panther, Captain America, or Captain Marvel. With their spectacular staging, these meet and greets win over kids and grown-ups alike.

Category 6Frozen

You’ll meet Elsa and Anna in the Frozen area of Disney Adventure World. It’s A Royal Encounter with Elsa and Anna, set in Arendelle. A huge hit with families, it’s one of the most popular meet and greets in the park, so book your slot in the virtual queue as early as you can.

Category 7And everyone else

Beyond the big franchises, a whole crowd of other characters shows up as the seasons change: Disney villains (Captain Hook, Jafar), Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Baloo, Timon and Rafiki, or the heroes of Zootopia and Alice in Wonderland. Some are seasonal, like Santa Claus at Christmas or Jack Skellington at Halloween. Great for rarer meet and greets, they often hold nice surprises.

How do you know who’s out today?

Character appearances shift from one day to the next, and nothing is locked in until that morning. Your go-to source is the Disneyland Paris app: open the "Rencontres" (Characters) tab to see today’s lineup, with time slots listed character by character. A few meet and greets never change (Meet Mickey), others rotate, and some work through a virtual queue. Open the app the moment you get there and map out what matters most to you.

My tips for a shorter wait

Tip 1: catch characters right at park opening. During that first hour the lines are close to empty, even though fewer meet and greets are running. Tip 2: lean on parades and shows. Missed out on a Meet&Greet? The parades and shows still give you a chance to say hi to the characters from afar. Tip 3: for Mickey and the princesses, reserve a virtual queue time the minute you walk into the park, or put a reminder on your phone 5 minutes ahead of opening.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, my answers

The questions that land most often in my emails and DMs. Answers with real numbers, double-checked and tested on site.

01 How do you meet Disney characters at Disneyland Paris?

There are four main ways to meet a character: in the park by waiting in a regular standby line, at dedicated spots with a virtual queue in the Disneyland Paris app, at a character meal (character dining), or at some official Disney hotels. If you can’t get a meet and greet, you’ll still see the characters in the parades and shows.

02 How does a meet and greet with a regular standby line work in the park?

Find where the meet and greet takes place (shown in the Disneyland Paris app and in the daily Program), then get in line on the spot. The wait time depends on the character and the time of day. Once it’s your turn, you get a few moments for a photo and an autograph.

03 What’s a virtual queue character meet, and how does it work?

For some very popular meet and greets (princesses, Marvel heroes at Avengers Campus...), you don’t wait in a physical line. You grab a time slot in the Disneyland Paris app ahead of time, then come back at the time shown. The system is free, but slots go fast. I recommend trying as soon as the park opens.

04 Which Disney hotels offer character meet and greets?

Almost all of them. The Disneyland Hotel, Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, Newport Bay Club, Sequoia Lodge, Disney Hotel Cheyenne, and Disney Hotel Santa Fe all offer meet and greets, in the lobby or near the front desk, usually just for hotel guests. Only Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch has none. The schedules vary by hotel and by season, so ask at the front desk as soon as you arrive.

05 Which restaurants at Disneyland Paris let you dine with Disney characters?

Five restaurants at Disneyland Paris offer character meet and greets. In Disneyland Park, there’s Plaza Gardens Restaurant on Main Street (all-you-can-eat buffet with Mickey, Minnie, and Donald, currently closed for renovation until 2027) and the Auberge de Cendrillon in Fantasyland (table service with the Princesses). Since March 2026, Regal View Restaurant & Lounge has been open in Disney Adventure World, with a Princess buffet. At the hotels, Royal Banquet and La Table de Lumière at the Disneyland Hotel also offer meet and greets. For the details, check the Hotels section of the FAQ.
