Disneyland Paris fireworks: the complete guide to the nighttime shows

Every night at closing time, each of the two parks puts on its own nighttime show, included with your ticket. I’ll tell you what time the fireworks start, where to stand, which one to pick, and what has changed recently.

The showtime changes every night to match each park’s closing time, so it varies from one day to the next. To find the exact time for your day, open the daily program in the official Disneyland Paris app, or check the signs at the park entrance.

First, a quick word on terms. People often talk about "the fireworks," but these are really full nighttime shows: pyrotechnics share the stage with projections, lasers, fountains, and, in one of the two, drones. The fireworks are only one part of the show.

I was there on the opening night of both (Disney Tales of Magic on January 10, 2025, Disney Cascade of Lights on March 29, 2026), and I’ve watched them many times since. This guide is based on what I’ve seen in person, and it then points you to my dedicated pages if you want to go further.

The two nighttime shows up close

Disney Tales of Magic is the nighttime show at Disneyland Park. Running since January 10, 2025, it plays out on Sleeping Beauty Castle and the building fronts of Main Street, U.S.A., for about twenty minutes in three acts (the magic of friendship, the magic of love, the magic of belonging to a family). It blends projections, lasers, fountains, and pyrotechnics. It took the place of Disney Illuminations.

Disney Cascade of Lights is the nighttime show at Disney Adventure World, the second park at Disneyland Paris (formerly Walt Disney Studios). Running since March 29, 2026, on the Adventure Bay lake, it lasts about 17 minutes and brings together aerial and water drones, projections on water screens, fountains, and pyrotechnics, set to an orchestral soundtrack and staged in 360 degrees.

For my full review of each show (how it feels, the atmosphere, what I think of it), head to their pages from the shows index. For the daytime parade, see Disney Stars on Parade.

What time are the fireworks (the nighttime show)?

Each show is timed to its park’s closing and runs just before it. Since closing time shifts with the season, the crowds, and special events, the showtimes also change from one night to the next.

In practice, expect earlier shows in winter (often around 20:00 or 21:00) and later ones in summer (around 22:00 to 22:40). These are ballpark times, not guaranteed ones: the exact time is only set for a specific date.

My advice: don’t rely on a time you read ahead of time on another site, since it goes out of date fast. Always check the time for your day on the day itself, in the box at the top of this page or in the official Disneyland Paris app.

Depending on the year and the season (Halloween, Christmas), a short pre-show of about ten minutes sometimes comes before the main show. It doesn’t happen every time: check the current season’s program or the Disneyland Paris app on the day.

Timeline of Disneyland Paris nighttime shows: starting around 20:00 in winter, around 21:00 in the shoulder season, and between 22:00 and 22:40 in summer, for about 20 minutes, with no fireworks or drones after 23:00 (local government order).

What changed: drones since April 2026

Since April 1, 2026, Disney Tales of Magic has run without drones, in a version that leans more on projections and pyrotechnics. Disney points to better reliability in bad weather (wind, rain), since drones are especially vulnerable to those conditions.

In practice, the only daily show with drones is now Disney Cascade of Lights, at Disney Adventure World, which pairs aerial drones with water drones.

Want drones in your evening? Then head for the Adventure Bay lake. The castle show remains complete and carefully crafted. It simply no longer has anything in the air. In the days when Tales of Magic used drones, I thought they gave it a small bonus, yet it stands on its own perfectly well now. If you’re curious about the full history of drone shows at the park, read the drone shows at Disneyland Paris.

Which show should you pick?

Both shows start at the same moment, each one at its own park’s closing, so catching the two in a single evening isn’t possible, 2-park ticket or not. On a multi-day trip, the simplest plan is one show per evening, switching parks from night to night.

If there’s only time for one, here’s my honest opinion after many viewings of each. First-timers, go with Disney Tales of Magic. The castle remains the park’s main landmark and the scenes are cleverly put together. When Main Street lights up, the crowd lets out a real "wow" (and so do I, without fail).

This show tugs at the heartstrings, and the music carries it to a gorgeous finale. If I had one small wish, it would be for a bit more fireworks.

Disney Cascade of Lights is the newer of the two. It moves me a little less, but as a piece of technology it’s a real achievement: the images projected onto the water look strikingly faithful, the low-flying drones are impressive, the water drones bring an extra touch, and the 360-degree stage uses every inch of the space. On my first viewing, I enjoyed it a bit less. Each time I go back, I notice new details, and it keeps growing on me.

Where should you watch from?

Where you stand makes a big difference, but there’s no single "best spot": the right one depends on how you like to visit and on the show. Tales of Magic is watched head-on, facing the castle and Main Street. Cascade of Lights is enjoyed around the lake, with a 360-degree stage where the ideal position follows other rules (angles, wind, height).

Since the two are very different, I’ve written a separate guide for each, with the areas to aim for and tips on when to arrive: where to watch Disney Tales of Magic and where to watch Disney Cascade of Lights. Finally, there’s an area set aside for guests with reduced mobility and pregnant visitors, to the left of the castle, with up to 2 companions. Check in with a Cast Member at the entrance to the area.

The nights that are exceptions

Three nights break from the usual pattern and get special hours:

July 14 (Bastille Day)
a special fireworks display goes up over the castle in place of Disney Tales of Magic. It’s included with your ticket. I’ve written a whole page on this day (big crowds, where to stand, tips): July 14 at the park.
October 31
on Halloween, the 2 parks keep their gates open until 23:00, and that’s exactly when Disney Tales of Magic begins, at 23:00. You’ll find every detail in the article I wrote on it: the Halloween party night.
New Year’s Eve
at midnight, fireworks light up the sky above the castle, and Disneyland Park keeps its gates open past its usual closing time. Disney Adventure World rings in midnight too, with pyrotechnics and drones (if the weather allows). Everything is in my dedicated article: New Year’s Eve night.

Since these nights are special, their schedules don’t follow the 23:00 rule that applies the rest of the time.

Frequently asked questions

01 Does Disneyland Paris have fireworks every night, and do they cost extra?

Yes. Since March 29, 2026, each park has had a nighttime show every evening, included with your ticket: Disney Tales of Magic at Disneyland Park and Disney Cascade of Lights at Disney Adventure World. Only a reserved viewing area costs extra, as an option.

02 What time do the fireworks start at Disneyland Paris?

The nighttime show takes place at park closing time, just before the gates shut. So it’s earlier in winter (often around 20:00 or 21:00) and later in summer (around 22:00 to 22:40). The time changes every night, so check the one for your day in the official Disneyland Paris app on the day itself.

03 Are there still drones in the nighttime show in 2026?

At the castle, no: since April 1, 2026, Disney Tales of Magic has been presented without drones, focusing on projections and pyrotechnics. To see drones, head to Disney Cascade of Lights at Disney Adventure World, with aerial drones and water drones skimming the surface.

04 Can you see both nighttime shows on the same night?

No. The two shows run at the same time, at closing in each of their parks, which are separate: so you can’t see both on the same night, even with a 2-park ticket. The easiest option is to see one per night if you’re staying several days, or to decide ahead of time which one you’d rather see.

05 Is the evening show canceled if it rains or gets windy?

Rarely. In strong wind or a thunderstorm, the show is usually adjusted (drones or fireworks pulled) rather than canceled. Light rain generally doesn’t stop it. The drones in Cascade of Lights are the most sensitive to wind. Check the day’s schedule on the evening of your visit.

06 How early should you arrive to get a good spot for the evening show?

It depends on where you want to stand. Allow 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes for the foot of the castle and 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes for Central Plaza. Near the show control booth (the little green house in front of Casey’s Corner), plan on 30 to 45 minutes. For Main Street, U.S.A. or the park entrance, count on 15 to 45 minutes. For Cascade of Lights, by the lake, 30 to 45 minutes is usually enough. On busy days, get there at least 45 minutes ahead.
