How to choose

The right show for your situation

Disneyland Paris runs several shows in rotation throughout the day and across the 2 parks. Allow 1 to 3 shows a day so you don’t spread yourself too thin. The secret: focus on the ones that interest you rather than trying to see everything.

I group the shows into 5 main types: indoor stage shows, outdoor stage shows, fireworks, parades and concerts and live entertainment. For a first visit, I recommend at the very least the daytime parade, the night-time show and an indoor show.

Parades, fireworks, shows or live entertainment: the 5 main types of show

Category 1Daytime parades

Parades make their way through the streets of Disneyland Park (and sometimes Disney Adventure World) with floats, characters and music. The regular parade is Disney Stars on Parade, joined by seasonal versions at Halloween (Mickey’s Halloween Celebration) and at Christmas (Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade!) or during World Princess Week. Very popular, they draw big crowds: grab a spot along the route early for a good view.

Category 2Fireworks and night-time shows

Night-time shows end the day with projections, lights, fountains and fireworks over the castle. The big one is Disney Tales of Magic in Disneyland Park, joined by Disney Cascade of Lights in Disney Adventure World and one-off fireworks such as those on 14 July and New Year’s Eve. Often the highlight of the evening, they mean arriving early (or very early) for a spot facing the castle.

Category 3Indoor stage shows

Indoor shows take place in covered, air-conditioned theatres, with singing, dancing and polished staging. Currently showing: The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Mickey and the Magician, TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure and Stitch Live!. Perfect for a break out of the heat or the rain, they’re worth it for their production quality.

Category 4Outdoor stage shows

Outdoor shows are performed on open-air stages, often facing the castle or in the themed lands. Popular shows include "A Celebration in Arendelle" and "Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland". Shorter than the indoor shows, they break up the day and you watch them standing or sometimes seated, with no booking needed.

Category 5Live entertainment and concerts

Musical entertainment means short live acts that pop up throughout the day: marching bands, concerts and dance troupes. For example Minnie’s marching band, Timon’s MataDance or the concerts at Billy Bob’s in Disney Village. Spontaneous and with no queue, they’re perfect for soaking up the atmosphere between two rides.

The right timing for each show

Each show has a recommended arrival time depending on how popular it is: 10 to 20 min early for the musical meet and greets, 20 to 30 min for stage shows, 30 to 45 min for parades and 45 to 60 min for the night-time fireworks. Check the day’s show times when you arrive at the park.

The 3 mistakes to avoid

Mistake 1: doing 12 rides and 0 shows in a day: exhausting for children. Mistake 2: picking a seasonal show without checking the dates: some shows only run at Halloween or Christmas. Mistake 3: arriving too late on Central Plaza for the night-time fireworks: by 22:00 it’s full, so aim for 21:00.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, my answers

The questions I get most often by email and DM. Answers with real figures, checked and tested on the ground.

01 Are shows and parades included in the ticket?

Yes, all daytime shows, parades and night-time shows (Disney Tales of Magic and Disney Cascade of Lights) are included in the ticket price, in the free viewing areas. Only the paid premium viewing area (a reserved spot closer to the stage) and Guaranteed Access to a stage show are optional extras, which you buy in the Disneyland Paris app.

02 Where can you find today’s show and parade times?

In the Disneyland Paris app (the Today in the park section) or on my blog. The times change every day depending on the season and the crowds, so I recommend checking that same morning.

03 What is the €15 Guaranteed Access and which shows does it cover?

A paid service that guarantees you a seat in the theatre without queuing, at €15 per person (one price for everyone aged 3 and over). You book it in the Disneyland Paris app for the shows that offer it: The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Mickey and the Magician and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. You need a valid park ticket, and it’s in your name only. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before.

04 What is the paid premium viewing area for night-time shows?

A reserved area closer to the stage, which you buy in the Disneyland Paris app. The price depends on the show and the date. You’re asked to be there 10 to 30 minutes before the show.

05 Can you see both fireworks shows on the same night?

No, the two shows often take place at the same time (or slightly staggered), at each park’s closing time. So you have to choose which one to see. With a 2-park ticket, decide in advance and get to the right park before the show starts.
