At a glance

Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade! is Disneyland Park’s seasonal Christmas parade, back every year for the Disney Enchanted Christmas season.

Emmanuel Lenormand, a show director at Disneyland Paris, staged it, and in 2022 it took home the Brass Ring Award for "Most Creative Christmas / Holiday Show" from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). It’s performed twice a day, on two different routes, and pauses for choreographed show stops at Central Plaza and then at Town Square, where it’s part of the Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

The parade is made up of five sparkling floats, each with a look and a soundtrack of its own. The first float, "Mickey’s Holiday Express," is a cartoon-style train with Mickey at the controls, fairies gliding ahead of it along the route, and Duffy the plush bear riding along. Then comes "Minnie’s Christmas Delights," a treat-filled float where Minnie, Clarabelle Cow, and Horace Horsecollar mingle with gingerbread men and shortbread cookies. The third float, "Donald’s Winter Wonderland," is styled after the carved wood of Swiss cuckoo clocks with a Nordic Christmas feel, and it carries Donald, Daisy, Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey and Louie.

On the fourth float, "A Fairytale Waltz," the Disney Princesses (Cinderella, Jasmine, Tiana, Aurora, and others) appear in glittering winter outfits. Last of all, "Santa’s Magic" closes the parade: Santa Claus sits in his sleigh behind his reindeer, next to a giant snow globe with a miniature of the park’s tree inside, and Tinker Bell provides the grand finale. The music centers on "Shine a Light," an original song by Yaron Spiwak (Walt Disney Imagineering). Each float gets its own arrangement (the original version, electronic percussion, orchestral, or romantic symphonic), and the final float adds medleys of "Jingle Bells," "Tant qu’il y aura Noël," and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town."

Before it came Disney’s Christmas Parade, a show that got bigger year after year, one new themed float at a time.

What sets it apart

The only parade where Santa Claus rides by in person on his sleigh. The floats pause at Central Plaza for choreographed numbers facing the crowd, and the procession wraps up with Santa’s sparkling arrival. It’s one of the few official times he appears in the park.

History

Holiday celebrations here have always come with their own parades. Before Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade! arrived, the resort offered Disney’s Christmas Parade, a show that grew over several years as new themed floats were added one by one. This brand-new, much larger production premiered for the 2021 Christmas season.

Created and produced by Disney Live Entertainment, the parade is built around lighting that changes over the day: it rolls by in a classic look during the daytime, then transforms after dark as the lights on its floats and costumes sync up. Designing it took many months of technical work on the built-in LED systems, which made the complex show stops at Central Plaza possible.

04

Theme & world

The parade celebrates Christmas with Mickey, Minnie, their friends, and Santa Claus. The lit-up floats roll by to festive Disney music, with show stops at Central Plaza and at Town Square for the tree lighting ceremony, and a finale featuring Santa Claus on his glittering sleigh.

My verdict

In my opinion, this is by far one of the most polished seasonal productions at the resort. The visuals really stand out: snow falling on Main Street, carefully crafted costumes, and Santa Claus riding by all lift everyone’s spirits. The lighting of the giant tree wraps things up in spectacular fashion and leaves you with a memory that really sticks.

The main challenge is the crowd, which grows enormously over the holiday season and forces guests to grab a spot very early to get a decent view. My tip: if you get the chance, always go for the evening performance. That’s when the lights on the floats and the tree really shine.

Map & getting there

You’ll see this parade in Disneyland Park, along Main Street U.S.A. and at the foot of the castle.

There are two performances a day, and each one takes its own route between Fantasyland and Town Square, passing through Central Plaza and Main Street U.S.A.

The first performance starts in Fantasyland, circles Central Plaza twice with a show stop, then heads down Main Street U.S.A. to Town Square, where it ends after the Ribbons and Bows Hat Shop.

The second performance starts at the park entrance, circles the tree in front of the train station twice with show stops, goes up Main Street U.S.A., loops around Central Plaza twice with more show stops, and finishes in Fantasyland in front of "it’s a small world."

Disney sets up a premium viewing area, for a fee, by the fountain at Plaza Gardens, across from Central Plaza. Wheelchair users usually get their own section near the hub.

Your questions about this show

01 Which Christmas parade runs at Disneyland Paris?

Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade!, at Disneyland Park, from November 7 to January 6. It has two performances a day, including a lit-up evening version that I absolutely love. I share the best spots in my dedicated article.

02 How does the paid premium viewing area for parades work?

It’s a reserved area near the castle that you buy in the Disneyland Paris app (under Buy, then Shows and Parades). The price depends on the date, around €20 per person (free for kids under 3). There’s no seating, and you need to be there at least 10 minutes before showtime.

03 How far ahead should you stake out a spot for a parade or show?

Plan on 30 to 45 minutes when it’s quiet, and as much as 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes for the best spots when it’s busy. You’ll find details for each spot in my dedicated articles. If you buy paid access, just show up 10 to 30 minutes ahead.

04 How can you check the day’s schedule for shows and parades?

In the Disneyland Paris app (under Today in the Park) or on my blog. Showtimes change every day depending on the season and crowds, so I recommend checking that same morning.

05 Can shows and parades be canceled?

Yes. In bad weather (strong winds, thunderstorms, steady rain), nighttime shows can be canceled with no notice and no replacement. Parades sometimes are too. Check the status that day in the Disneyland Paris app.
