Today’s parade

Disney Stars on Parade normally rolls through late in the afternoon. On days when a seasonal parade has the afternoon, such as at Halloween or Christmas, Stars on Parade moves to late morning. For the exact time, open the official Disneyland Paris app the morning you go.

Disney Stars on Parade is the big daytime parade at Disneyland Park, the main event of the afternoon. To make the most of it, two things matter: knowing where to stand and showing up at the right time. In this guide, I’ll first explain what this parade is, then go over the best viewing spots, the full route, and how early to arrive.

What is Disney Stars on Parade?

This is the parade that fills the daytime slot at Disneyland Park. Disney Stars on Parade arrived in 2017 to celebrate the park’s 25th anniversary, taking over from Disney Magic on Parade. You can catch it once daily, and it runs roughly 33 minutes.

The procession is made up of eight themed units: big, colorful floats carry the Disney characters (Mickey and Minnie, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, the princesses, Toy Story, Frozen, and the Disney villains, among others). The showstopper is Maleficent turned into a fire-breathing dragon.

You’ll find the full rundown of the show (floats, characters, running time) on its page, just above. Here, I’m sticking to the practical side: where to stand and when to get there.

Why is the parade such a big Disney moment?

The parade is one of the highlights of a day at the park. It’s when most of the characters come together in a single sequence, all along one route. You don’t need to book anything or rush from place to place: you just find a spot along the way.

Parades have been part of what Disney parks are about since the very first one opened in California. The tradition has spread everywhere, and each Disney park around the world has its own daily parade. The idea never changes, floats rolling by with the characters on board, but every park does its own version.

Why stop and watch it? Because it pulls the whole Disney universe into one moment, anyone can enjoy it standing along the street, and it comes with your park ticket. It’s a chance to take a real break during the day.

It’s a part of the day I really enjoy, even after so many visits. Depending on where I stand, I never see quite the same thing: the floats heading straight at me, the castle in the background, or the parade moving right toward me. That’s what made me want to share my favorite spots.

The best spots to watch the parade

Here’s a quick look at the four spots along the route that I recommend, plus the paid spot and the one set aside for guests with reduced mobility. You’ll find the pros and cons of each one right after the table.

Each spot in detail

1. In front of Bella Notte restaurant (Fantasyland)

Stand in front of the Bella Notte restaurant terrace, in Fantasyland. It’s a great spot to start from, because the parade sets off very close by, near the it’s a small world ride.

Pros

  • You get a great head-on view of the floats as they approach
  • You also see them as they turn toward the castle
  • A vantage point that lets you take in the parade from several angles

Cons

  • A very popular spot: you need to get there early for a good place

2. By the two Fantasyland towers

Settle in by the two towers, just past Le Théâtre du Château. It’s a quieter spot, handy if you don’t want to show up too early.

Pros

  • You can see the floats coming from far off
  • Often less crowded, even if you get there shortly before
  • A bit of shade in summer

Cons

  • You’re about halfway between two speakers, which can cause a slight sound delay (though it’s barely noticeable)

3. Next to Le Théâtre du Château (Central Plaza)

Head to Central Plaza and set up near Le Théâtre du Château. Photo lovers, this one’s for you.

Pros

  • Pretty photos with the castle in the background
  • You see the floats from different angles

Cons

  • A very popular spot: it gets cramped fast
  • A walkway is kept clear, which cuts down the available space even more

4. In front of the bandstand, facing Main Street U.S.A.

Set up where Main Street U.S.A. begins, directly in front of the bandstand. No other place beats it for me when it comes to the parade, but snagging it is a real challenge.

Pros

  • Main Street and the castle, both in your line of sight
  • The floats leave the castle and roll right at you

Cons

  • Small, so there isn’t much room
  • Sometimes reserved for special occasions (VIPs or Disney’s communications team)

The reserved viewing area (paid)

Central Plaza also has a paid reserved viewing area for the parade, which you book straight from the official Disneyland Paris app. Each performance costs €19 to €24 a person.

With it, you get into a set-aside zone where it’s not crowded and nothing blocks your view. It’s a comfy option, but it’s an extra cost on top of admission. My dedicated guide has all the details: the reserved viewing area.

The accessible viewing area

A spot is set aside for guests with reduced mobility, in front of the show and parade control booth, to the left of Central Plaza. You get in by showing your Disney Priority Card.

It’s a dedicated zone that’s easier to reach, but it’s small and has no shade (less pleasant in hot weather). This spot can also be moved over by Le Théâtre du Château.

The parade route

The parade starts in Fantasyland, right across from the Bella Notte restaurant, near the it’s a small world ride. From there, it heads toward the castle, passing in front of Le Théâtre du Château.

It crosses Central Plaza using only the left side of the circle, then travels the full length of Main Street U.S.A. up to Town Square. It loops around Town Square and wraps up just past the Ribbons and Bows Hat Shop.

How early should you get there?

If you’re aiming for one of the favorite spots, give yourself 30 to 45 minutes before the parade so you’re not left without a good place.

If you get there later, you can still see the parade: head for Main Street U.S.A. or the area by the two Fantasyland towers, where there’s often room left even 15 minutes before it starts.

These guidelines depend on how crowded the park is that day. On very busy days, come earlier just to be safe.

Frequently asked questions

01 When does the parade take place, and how often does it run?

Disney Stars on Parade runs a single time each day, generally late in the afternoon (earlier at some times of year). The route goes from Fantasyland to Town Square and takes about 33 minutes. Since the time shifts from day to day, look it up in the official app the morning you visit.

02 Can I pay for a reserved spot to watch the parade?

Yes. You’ll find this premium spot along the outer side of Central Plaza, beside Plaza Gardens. It runs €21 to €24 a head, and booking happens only in the Disneyland Paris app. My full guide covers it all: the premium viewing spot.

03 Is there a reserved viewing area for guests with reduced mobility at the shows and parades?

Yes. Each park has an area for guests with reduced mobility, both for the parades (in front of the show control booth, to the left of Central Plaza) and for the nighttime castle show (to the left of the castle), when you show a Disney Priority Card or a pregnancy wristband (Thumper wristband). The person can bring two companions. Get there a little early to grab a good spot.

04 To see the parade well, how early do you need to arrive?

Allow 30 to 45 minutes for the best spots, and come very early for the bandstand spot facing Main Street U.S.A. (small, and it fills up fast). Along the street, though, there’s often still room even 15 minutes before the start, and the same goes near the two towers in Fantasyland. It depends on how busy the day is.

05 How do you book a premium viewing area?

Your simplest option is the official Disneyland Paris app. Book a few weeks out, because the number of spots is limited. Log in with your ticket or your Pass, pick the show and the date, and pay. Entry is tied to your name.

06 How do I find showtimes and parade times on the day of my visit?

Open the official Disneyland Paris app on the morning of your visit: it shows that day’s times for parades, shows, and character meets. In the parks, you’ll also find signs outside the theater entrances and at City Hall.
