At a glance
Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a 4D movie attraction shown at the Discoveryland Theatre, in both French and the original English version.
The movie lasts about 12 minutes. Donald secretly grabs Mickey’s sorcerer hat and instantly loses control of the PhilharMagic orchestra. Sucked into a swirling vortex, the duck tumbles through several scenes inspired by Disney classics: Fantasia with the Sorcerer’s Apprentice brooms, Beauty and the Beast with "Be Our Guest" and Lumiere, The Little Mermaid in Ariel’s grotto to "Part of Your World," The Lion King to "I Just Can’t Wait to Be King" with Simba, Peter Pan for a flight over London with Tinker Bell, Aladdin to "A Whole New World" on a flying carpet, and Coco to "Un Poco Loco," until Mickey gets his hat back and takes charge again.
The 3D film comes with 4D effects: water sprays, gusts of wind, scents in the air, and a platform on hydraulic jacks weighing nearly 100 metric tons, left over from Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, which moves the whole auditorium in time with the movie.
The preshow features praxinoscopes (optical toys) and banners showing Disney characters such as Donald, Ariel, Lumiere, and Tinker Bell.
The attraction is based on the concept created in 2003 for Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World), one of the first direct collaborations between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. Glen Keane animated Ariel in 3D for the very first time here, after creating the character in 2D for the 1989 film, and that work helped spark the making of Tangled a few years later. After versions at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005 and Tokyo Disneyland in 2011, the concept came to Disneyland Paris for Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary celebrations, in a theater that had previously hosted Captain EO, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, and Star Wars: Path of the Jedi.
The only 4D movie at the resort: water, wind, scents, and a moving platform timed to the film. The effects carry the 3D images of the Disney classics right into the room. A great air-conditioned break, and the line rarely gets long.

History
Stereoscopic films have shaped the story of the Discoveryland Theatre from the start. Captain EO screened in this room between 1992 and 1998, and returned between 2010 and 2015. In between, from 1999 to 2010, the room hosted Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. Mickey’s PhilharMagic made its debut here on October 1, 2018, following a preview weekend open only to Annual Passholders, and joined the lineup celebrating Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday.
First developed by Walt Disney Imagineering for the US parks in 2003, this animated 4D movie sets off a series of sensory effects in the auditorium, all timed to the film. The Paris version got upgraded projection equipment, and in 2021 a new musical scene from the movie Coco was added, freshening up the show without changing its classic storyline.
Theme & world
This 4D movie show celebrates Disney music and animation through several classics: Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and Fantasia. Donald tumbles from one film to the next during a big concert led by Mickey, in a show designed with families in mind.
Who it’s made for
Pros and cons
The highlights
- 4D effects with water, wind, and scents
- A cast of iconic Disney characters
- A great place to wait out bad weather
- Shown in both French and the original English
The downsides
- Smaller screen than the other versions around the world
- 3D animation from 2003
- Theme has little to do with Discoveryland
- Preshow and line area with little theming
My verdict
It’s a pleasant show, nothing more: to me, it has lost some of the charm it had at the start, and the animation is starting to look old next to more recent productions. The Disney classics flow nicely from one to the next, but the whole thing no longer really surprises you once you’ve seen it before.
That said, it’s still a good air-conditioned escape in the middle of summer, and the 4D effects (water, wind, and scents) still delight younger kids. With so many showings throughout the day, the wait stays very reasonable. My tip: save it for a really hot afternoon or a rainy spell, that’s when it comes in handiest.

Map & getting there
The show takes place in Discoveryland at Disneyland Park, inside the Discoveryland Theatre, on the far east side of the park, just behind Hyperspace Mountain.
You first go through a preshow area with praxinoscopes and banners of Disney characters, where guests pick up their 3D glasses before heading into the main theater.
The auditorium sits on a moving platform mounted on hydraulic jacks that is synchronized with the film, a feature found only in the Paris version.
Your questions about this show
01 Which stage shows are playing at Disneyland Paris in 2026?
In 2026, 7 major stage shows are on the schedule: Mickey’s PhilharMagic, The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Animation Academy, Mickey and the Magician, Minnie’s Dream Factory, Stitch Live!, and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. They play in air-conditioned theaters at Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World, with several performances a day.
02 Is a reservation required for theater shows?
No. Theater shows cost nothing extra and come with your ticket, using the regular standby line. Guaranteed Access, roughly €15, is an optional add-on: you skip some waiting and are sure to get a seat, even when the show is full.
03 Can shows and parades be canceled?
Yes. In bad weather (strong winds, thunderstorms, steady rain), nighttime shows can be canceled with no notice and no replacement. Parades sometimes are too. Check the status that day in the Disneyland Paris app.
04 How can you check the day’s schedule for shows and parades?
In the Disneyland Paris app (under Today in the Park) or on my blog. Showtimes change every day depending on the season and crowds, so I recommend checking that same morning.
05 Are shows and parades included with your ticket?
Yes, all daytime shows, parades, and nighttime shows (Disney Tales of Magic and Disney Cascade of Lights) are included in the ticket price, in the free viewing areas. The only optional extras are the paid premium viewing spot (a reserved spot closer to the stage) and Guaranteed Access to a theater show, both sold in the Disneyland Paris app.
