At a glance
Disney Tales of Magic is the night-time show that closes Disneyland Park, performed every evening at closing time.
Created by Tim Lutkin and the Paris teams of Disney Live Entertainment, it’s exclusive to the Paris park. It’s the first night-time show at Disneyland Paris to build into its story not only Sleeping Beauty Castle but also the facades of Main Street U.S.A.
The show is built around three story arcs: the magic of friendship, the magic of love and the magic of belonging to a family, explored through an emotional journey across Disney and Pixar worlds.
A prologue celebrates the visual magic Walt Disney brought to Pinocchio, Cinderella and Mary Poppins, followed by a series of scenes dedicated to films including Inside Out, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lilo & Stitch, Toy Story, WALL-E, Coco, The Lion King and Encanto. The finale brings together many iconic characters to the song "Live in Magic". The show actually holds the record for the most Disney and Pixar characters featured in a night-time show, ahead of Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland Resort.
The staging combines projection mapping, water jets and fountains, lasers, pyrotechnics and LEDs built into the turrets, with a video frame rate double that of earlier shows (50 frames per second). The exclusive animation of the Blue Fairy and the Fairy Godmother took over 300 hand-drawn sketches, scanned and then painted digitally.
The soundtrack is based on new arrangements of over 20 iconic Disney and Pixar songs, plus the original song "Live in Magic", sung in French and English by Noémie Legrand, Tony Ferrari and Lucky West, with a 100-piece orchestra recorded at Air Studios in London.
A detail for insiders: the DJ who hosts the Aliens’ party in the Toy Story sequence, nicknamed "DJ Fab" by the creative director, is a tribute to Adam Fabulous, a Disney parks enthusiast who passed away shortly before the show was created.
The night-time show that closes every evening at Disneyland Park. A soaring orchestral soundtrack runs through legendary themes and newer Disney songs with rare intensity, enough to move even regular visitors.

History
The Disneyland Park castle has hosted a string of night-time shows. The first show with video mapping on the castle, Disney Dreams!, launched on 1 April 2012 for the park’s 20th anniversary and ran until 25 March 2017. It was replaced by Disney Illuminations from 26 March 2017 to 11 April 2023, which left a lasting impression with its projections across the castle’s many surfaces. A second version of Disney Dreams! then took over from 12 April 2023 to 30 May 2024, before Disney Illuminations came back for a short spell, until Disney Tales of Magic became the official show from 10 January 2025.
As a tribute to its predecessor, The Hunchback of Notre Dame scene (Quasimodo climbing the castle to Out There) deliberately reuses an iconic piece of staging from Disney Dreams!.
The drones, part of the show at its launch in early 2025, were removed in April 2026. The show is still impressive, with its six other built-in technologies: video mapping, lasers, water jets, LEDs on the turrets, fireworks and mood lighting along Main Street.
Theme & story
The Disney Tales of Magic night-time show is built around three universal themes: the magic of friendship, the magic of love and the magic of family. Set to "Live in Magic" and a selection of Disney and Pixar music, each arc brings in classic clips to illustrate these values.
Who it’s for
Pros and cons
Strong points
- First show to make Main Street U.S.A. part of the story
- Original soundtrack recorded with an orchestra in London
- Record number of Disney/Pixar characters featured
- High-definition projections
- Performed every evening
Weak points
- Huge crowds and a long wait for a spot
- No single spot lets you see everything
- Drones removed in April 2026
- Paid premium viewing area for the best spots
- Limited view of the castle from Main Street
My verdict
Probably the most emotionally intense moment of a day at Disneyland Paris. Using Main Street U.S.A. as a narrative extension of the castle is spectacular and lives up to its reputation: it’s often named one of the best night-time shows in any Disney park in the world. The projections and fireworks are remarkably precise.
Watch out, though: the crowds are very dense and you need to arrive at least 60 minutes early to be sure of a clear view, especially in peak season. Personally, I’m sorry the drones were removed in April 2026, as it has left some sequences weaker. My real tip: choose your visual priority (the detail on the castle or the immersion in the street) and accept that you can’t see everything perfectly from one spot.

Map & getting there
The show takes place in Disneyland Park, mainly on Central Plaza at the foot of Sleeping Beauty Castle and also, for the first time at Disneyland Paris, on the building fronts of Main Street U.S.A.
There are several viewing areas. Central Plaza gives the best view of the castle, the fountains and the fireworks. Main Street U.S.A. lets you soak up the projections on the building fronts, ideally between Walt’s and Market House Deli for a 360° view.
The front row in the centre of Central Plaza is sold as a paid premium viewing area.
A dedicated area for disabled visitors is set up in front of the castle, near the Frontierland tipi path.
Your questions about this show
01 What is the night-time show at Disneyland Park?
The current night-time show is called Disney Tales of Magic, performed on Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street U.S.A. It lasts about 20 minutes and takes place at park closing. I cover every possible viewing spot in my dedicated article.
02 What is the paid premium viewing area for night-time shows?
A reserved area closer to the stage, which you buy in the Disneyland Paris app. The price depends on the show and the date. You’re asked to be there 10 to 30 minutes before the show.
03 How early should you find a spot for a parade or show?
Allow 30 to 45 minutes at quiet times, and up to 1 hour to 1 hour 30 at busy times for the best spots. The details for each spot are in my dedicated articles. If you buy paid access, just turn up 10 to 30 minutes before.
04 Can you see both fireworks shows on the same night?
No, the two shows often take place at the same time (or slightly staggered), at each park’s closing time. So you have to choose which one to see. With a 2-park ticket, decide in advance and get to the right park before the show starts.
05 Is there a pre-show before the fireworks?
Yes, a pre-show may be held before the fireworks, depending on the season. It usually starts 10 minutes before the show. This pre-show varies with the season and the year’s programme. It doesn’t always happen and may not exist at certain times of year. Check the programme in the app.
