The parade today

Disney Stars on Parade usually runs in the late afternoon. When a seasonal parade takes the afternoon slot, it runs in the late morning instead, for example during Halloween and Christmas. Check the official Disneyland Paris app on the morning of your visit for the exact time that day.

Disney Stars on Parade is the big daytime parade at Disneyland Park, the main event of the afternoon. To enjoy it properly, two things matter: knowing where to stand and arriving at the right time. In this guide, I first explain what the parade is, then go through the best spots, the full route and how early to arrive.

What is Disney Stars on Parade?

Disney Stars on Parade is the daytime parade at Disneyland Park. It launched in 2017 for the 25th anniversary, replacing Disney Magic on Parade. It runs once a day and lasts about 33 minutes.

The parade is made up of eight themed units: big colourful floats carry the Disney characters (Mickey and Minnie, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, the princesses, Toy Story, Frozen and the Disney villains). The highlight is Maleficent transformed into a fire-breathing dragon.

You’ll find the full show overview (floats, characters, length) on its page, just above. Here, I focus on the practical side: where to stand and when to arrive.

Why is the parade a big Disney moment?

The parade is one of the highlights of a day in the park. It’s when most of the characters come together in a single sequence, along one route. You don’t need to book or rush from one place to another: you just need to find a spot along the route.

Parades have been part of what Disney parks are since the very beginning in California. It’s a tradition found everywhere: every Disney park in the world has its own daily parade. The idea is always the same, floats going by with the characters, but each park has its own.

Why stop to watch it? Because it brings the whole Disney world together in one moment, anyone can enjoy it standing along the street and it’s included in your entry ticket. It’s a chance to take a real break in the day.

It’s a moment I really enjoy, even after many visits. Depending on where I stand, I never see quite the same thing: the floats coming towards me head-on, the castle in the background, or the parade heading straight at me. That’s what made me want to share my favourite spots.

The spots in detail

1. In front of the Bella Notte restaurant (Fantasyland)

Stand in front of the terrace of Bella Notte restaurant, in Fantasyland. It’s a good starting point, as the parade begins very close by, near the it’s a small world ride.

Pros

  • A great view of the floats coming towards you head-on
  • You also see them as they turn towards the castle
  • A viewpoint that lets you enjoy the parade from several angles

Cons

  • A very popular spot: you need to arrive early for a good place

2. Level with the two Fantasyland towers

Settle in level with the two towers, just after Le Théâtre du Château. It’s a quieter spot, handy if you don’t want to arrive too early.

Pros

  • You see the floats coming from a distance
  • Often fewer people, even if you arrive shortly before
  • A bit of shade in summer

Cons

  • You’re almost halfway between two loudspeakers, which can cause a slight sound delay (but it’s barely noticeable)

3. Next to Le Théâtre du Château (Central Plaza)

Stand at Central Plaza, near Le Théâtre du Château. It’s the right choice if you love great photos.

Pros

  • Lovely photos with the castle in the background
  • You see the floats from different angles

Cons

  • A very popular spot: it quickly gets cramped
  • A space is kept clear as a walkway, which cuts the room available even further

4. In front of the bandstand, facing Main Street U.S.A.

Stand at the start of Main Street U.S.A., right in front of the bandstand. It’s my favourite place to watch the parade, but it’s really not easy to get.

Pros

  • A view of the street and the castle at the same time
  • The parade comes from the castle and heads straight towards you

Cons

  • Small, so not much room
  • Sometimes reserved on certain occasions (VIPs or the Disney communications team)

The reserved viewing area (paid)

At Central Plaza, you can book a paid reserved viewing area for the parade. You book it directly in the official Disneyland Paris app. The price is €19 to €24 per person, per performance.

This gives you access to a reserved zone, with few people and a clear view. It’s a comfortable option, but you pay for it on top of your ticket. I cover everything in my dedicated guide: the reserved viewing area.

The accessible viewing area

A spot is reserved for visitors with reduced mobility, in front of the shows and parades control booth, to the left of Central Plaza. You get in by showing the Disney Priority Card.

It’s a dedicated zone that’s easier to reach, but small and with no shade (less pleasant in hot weather). This spot can also be moved to Le Théâtre du Château.

The parade route

The parade starts in Fantasyland, right opposite Bella Notte restaurant, near the it’s a small world ride. It then heads towards the castle, passing in front of Le Théâtre du Château.

It crosses Central Plaza, going round the left side of the roundabout only, then goes up the whole length of Main Street U.S.A. to Town Square. It goes round Town Square and ends just after the Ribbons and Bows Hat Shop.

How early should you arrive?

For the most popular spots, plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes early to be sure of a good place.

If you arrive later, you can still see the parade: head for Main Street U.S.A. or the two Fantasyland towers, where there’s often still room even 15 minutes before it starts.

These are rough guides that vary with the day’s crowds. On very busy days, arrive earlier to be safe.

Frequently asked questions

01 What time is the parade and how many times does it run?

Disney Stars on Parade runs once a day, usually in the late afternoon (sometimes earlier depending on the season). It lasts about 33 minutes, from Fantasyland to Town Square. The exact time changes every day: check it in the official Disneyland Paris app on the morning of your visit.

02 Is there a paid reserved viewing area for the parade?

Yes. The premium viewing area is on the outer edge of Central Plaza, next to Plaza Gardens, priced from €21 to €24 per person. You can only book it through the Disneyland Paris app. I cover everything in my dedicated guide: the premium viewing area.

03 Is there a reserved area for visitors with reduced mobility at shows and parades?

Yes. An area for visitors with reduced mobility is set aside in each park, for the parades (in front of the control booth, to the left of Central Plaza) and for the night-time castle show (to the left of the castle), on presentation of a Disney Priority Card or a Thumper wristband. The person concerned can bring two companions. Arrive a little earlier to get a good spot.

04 How early should you arrive to get a good view of the parade?

Allow 30 to 45 minutes for the best spots, and arrive very early for the bandstand spot facing Main Street U.S.A. (small, fills up fast). Along the street, on the other hand, there’s often still room even 15 minutes before it sets off, as there is near the two Fantasyland towers. It varies with how busy the day is.

05 How do you book a reserved viewing area?

The easiest way is through the official Disneyland Paris app, a few weeks in advance as spaces are limited. Log in with your ticket or your Pass, choose the show and the date, then pay. Entry is in your name.

06 How can I find the show and parade times on the day of my visit?

Open the official Disneyland Paris app on the morning of your visit: it shows the day’s times for parades, shows and character meets. On site, you’ll also find signs outside the theatre entrances and at City Hall.
