At a glance
Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a 4D cinema attraction at the Discoveryland Theatre, shown in a French version and in the original version.
The film, around 12 minutes long, stars Donald, who secretly grabs Mickey’s sorcerer hat and immediately loses control of the PhilharMagic orchestra. Swept away by a spellbound whirlwind, the duck travels through several sequences inspired by Disney classics: Fantasia with the brooms of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Beauty and the Beast with "Be Our Guest" and Lumière, The Little Mermaid in Ariel’s grotto to "Part of Your World", The Lion King to "I Just Can’t Wait to Be King" with Simba, Peter Pan for a flight over London with Tinker Bell, Aladdin to "A Whole New World" on a flying carpet and Coco to "Un Poco Loco", before Mickey gets his hat back and takes control again.
The 3D film comes with 4D effects: water sprays, gusts of wind, scents and a platform on hydraulic jacks weighing almost 100 tonnes, inherited from the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience attraction, which moves the auditorium in sync with the film.
The pre-show features praxinoscopes (optical toys) and banners of Disney characters such as Donald, Ariel, Lumière and Tinker Bell.
The attraction is based on the concept created in 2003 for Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World), one of the first direct collaborations between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. Glen Keane animated Ariel in 3D for the first time here, having created the character in 2D for the 1989 film, an experience that sparked the creation of Rapunzel a few years later. After versions at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005 and Tokyo Disneyland in 2011, the concept arrived at Disneyland Paris as part of the celebrations for Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday, in a theatre that had previously hosted Captain EO, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience and Star Wars: Path of the Jedi.
The resort’s only 4D cinema: water, wind, scents and a moving platform in sync with the film. Effects that bring the 3D images of the Disney classics off the screen. An ideal air-conditioned break, without a long queue.

History
The Discoveryland Theatre has a long history with stereoscopic films. It showed Captain EO from 1992 to 1998, then brought it back from 2010 to 2015. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience also played there from 1999 to 2010. Mickey’s PhilharMagic opened in the theatre on 1 October 2018, after a preview weekend for Annual Passholders, as part of the celebrations for Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday.
Originally developed by Walt Disney Imagineering for the American parks in 2003, this 4D animated film uses a range of sensory effects synchronised across the auditorium. The Paris version benefited from upgraded projection equipment and, in 2021, gained an extra musical scene from the film Coco, freshening up the show without changing its classic storyline.
Theme & story
This 4D film show celebrates Disney music and animation through several classics: Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Fantasia. Donald tumbles through the different films during a grand concert conducted by Mickey, in a show designed for families.
Who it’s for
Pros and cons
Strong points
- 4D water, wind and scent effects
- A cast of iconic Disney characters
- Ideal shelter in bad weather
- Shown in French and in the original English
Weak points
- Smaller screen than other versions around the world
- 3D animation dating from 2003
- Theming has little to do with Discoveryland
- Pre-show and queue have little theming
My verdict
It’s a pleasant show, nothing more: I find it has lost some of its early charm, and the animated film is starting to look dated next to more recent productions. The Disney classics flow nicely from one to the next, but these days it lacks any real surprise once you already know the show.
That said, it’s still a good air-conditioned refuge in the height of summer, and the 4D effects (water, wind and scents) still go down well with younger children. With plenty of showings through the day, the wait stays very reasonable. My tip: save it for a very hot spell or a rainy patch, that’s when it’s most useful.

Your questions about this show
01 What stage shows are on in 2026 at Disneyland Paris?
In 2026, 7 major stage shows are on: Mickey’s PhilharMagic, The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Animation Academy, Mickey and the Magician, Minnie’s Dream Factory, Stitch Live! and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. They take place in air-conditioned theatres at Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World, with several performances a day.
02 Do you need to book to see a stage show?
No. Stage shows are free and included in the ticket price, with a standard queue. Guaranteed Access, at around €15, is optional: it saves you time and secures you a seat even if the show is full.
03 Can shows and parades be cancelled?
Yes. In severe weather (high winds, storms, heavy rain), night-time shows can be cancelled without notice or replacement. Parades sometimes are too. Check the status on the day in the Disneyland Paris app.
04 Where can you find today’s show and parade times?
In the Disneyland Paris app (the Today in the park section) or on my blog. The times change every day depending on the season and the crowds, so I recommend checking that same morning.
05 Are shows and parades included in the ticket?
Yes, all daytime shows, parades and night-time shows (Disney Tales of Magic and Disney Cascade of Lights) are included in the ticket price, in the free viewing areas. Only the paid premium viewing area (a reserved spot closer to the stage) and Guaranteed Access to a stage show are optional extras, which you buy in the Disneyland Paris app.
