At a glance
Mickey and the Magician is an indoor show at the Animagique Theater. Mickey finds himself in the workshop of a great Magician and dreams of becoming a magician himself. The Magician gives him a task: tidy the room before the moon disappears, reminding him that a real magician always keeps his promises.
As he cleans up, Mickey summons several Disney characters, each of whom teaches him a lesson about magic: the Fairy Godmother (Cinderella) singing "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo", then Lumière (Beauty and the Beast) with the banquet scene and a waltz by Belle and the Beast, Rafiki (The Lion King) surrounded by savannah animals to "Circle of Life", the Genie (Aladdin) and his Arabian-style troupe, then Olaf and Elsa (Frozen) with "Let It Go".
The staging combines live actors, puppets, live singing, dance, elaborate costumes, illusions, digital projections and special effects. The show builds to the finale "Let the Magic Shine", where Mickey finally becomes a fully fledged magician, and ends with a curtain call from all the characters.
The only show at Disneyland Paris to combine real stage illusions with iconic songs. Live vanishing acts and transformations on stage, at a level close to a Broadway production. Mickey explores Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin and Frozen.

History
The Animagique Theater building made its name with the black-light show Animagique, applauded by visitors from the park’s opening in 2002 until 31 January 2016. Wanting to move towards more complex narrative theatre, management commissioned Mickey and the Magician. After a few weeks of previews, the show officially opened on 2 July 2016 and by the end of that same year had been named "best theatrical production" by the IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions).
For this critically acclaimed production, Walt Disney Imagineering brought in the British illusionist Paul Kieve, with the designers drawing on the worlds of Georges Méliès and Robert-Houdin to give the show an "old-school" style of magic. This partnership made it possible to weave optical illusions and stage illusion machinery into the story. The set, designed for very fast scene changes, is supported by video projections subtly mapped onto the scenery, creating the atmosphere of a classic nineteenth-century theatre.
The show also made accessibility history: in 2018, it became the first Disneyland Paris show performed in French Sign Language, after two years of joint work by the entertainment, accessibility and disability teams. Since February 2023, the signing performer no longer just interprets from the side of the stage: they are fully part of the story and interact with the characters.
Theme & story
Mickey and the Magician celebrates the magic of Disney through five classics: Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin and Frozen. Mickey, an apprentice magician, meets the Fairy Godmother, Lumière, Belle, the Beast, Rafiki, the Genie, Olaf, Elsa and Tinker Bell in a series of scenes blending illusions and live songs, set to the soundtrack "Let the Magic Shine".
Who it’s for
Pros and cons
Strong points
- A full line-up of classic Disney films
- Stage illusions
- Live singing and polished choreography
- French Sign Language (LSF) performer built into the story
- Indoor show, sheltered from the weather
Weak points
- Big crowds at performances
- Limited capacity per performance
- Queue sometimes long
My verdict
It’s hands down my favourite of all the resort’s theatre productions, a complete and visually stunning show. It clearly stands out as one of the best illusion shows in any Disney park in the world. The level of performance and staging is such that it’s well worth making time for it during your day.
The flip side of this quality is huge popularity. It’s not unusual to see the queue closed because the show is full well before the advertised showtime, especially on busy days. My tip: avoid the front row and deliberately sit a few rows back. You’ll appreciate the ensemble choreography and the mechanics of the illusions much better.

Your questions about this show
01 What stage shows are on in 2026 at Disneyland Paris?
In 2026, 7 major stage shows are on: Mickey’s PhilharMagic, The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Animation Academy, Mickey and the Magician, Minnie’s Dream Factory, Stitch Live! and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. They take place in air-conditioned theatres at Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World, with several performances a day.
02 Do you need to book to see a stage show?
No. Stage shows are free and included in the ticket price, with a standard queue. Guaranteed Access, at around €15, is optional: it saves you time and secures you a seat even if the show is full.
03 What is the €15 Guaranteed Access and which shows does it cover?
A paid service that guarantees you a seat in the theatre without queuing, at €15 per person (one price for everyone aged 3 and over). You book it in the Disneyland Paris app for the shows that offer it: The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Mickey and the Magician and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. You need a valid park ticket, and it’s in your name only. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before.
04 Where can you find today’s show and parade times?
In the Disneyland Paris app (the Today in the park section) or on my blog. The times change every day depending on the season and the crowds, so I recommend checking that same morning.
05 Are shows and parades included in the ticket?
Yes, all daytime shows, parades and night-time shows (Disney Tales of Magic and Disney Cascade of Lights) are included in the ticket price, in the free viewing areas. Only the paid premium viewing area (a reserved spot closer to the stage) and Guaranteed Access to a stage show are optional extras, which you buy in the Disneyland Paris app.
