The Disney Adventure World expansion: the whole project at a glance

Disneyland Paris’s 2nd park, the former Walt Disney Studios Park, is changing its name and growing. Below you’ll find the project, the timeline, what has already opened, and the answer to the question everyone asks: no, this isn’t a 3rd park.

Put simply, Disney Adventure World is what Disneyland Paris now calls its 2nd park. Until recently, you knew it as Walt Disney Studios Park. The switch happened on March 29, 2026.

There’s a big construction project behind that name change. Disneyland Paris is reshaping and enlarging the park, in a project estimated at about €2 billion. The goal: let guests step into big Disney stories, instead of the old behind-the-scenes look at moviemaking.

Here I lay out the overall picture for you: the reasons behind the expansion, the schedule phase by phase, the areas you can visit now, the ones still on the way, and an answer to the question readers ask me most (no, it isn’t a 3rd park).

Why is Disneyland Paris expanding its 2nd park?

Walt Disney Studios Park opened in 2002, ten years after Disneyland Park (1992). It was smaller and focused on how movies get made. Plenty of guests felt they could get through it a bit too quickly.

So Disney launched a major plan to rework it. The idea: add complete new areas, increase the footprint, and change the overall feel. The park is moving away from movie studio sets toward real adventures inside big Disney stories, like Marvel, Pixar, or Frozen.

That’s the context in which the park took its new name on March 29, 2026: Disney Adventure World.

Timeline of the Disney Adventure World expansion

Here are the main milestones of the expansion and what’s new at Disneyland Paris in 2026, from oldest to most recent. I only give a year once it’s confirmed. For everything else, I play it safe: until a date is official, I list it as planned.

The new areas (lands)

A land is a section of the park with its own theme, rides, stores, and restaurants. Some areas were already there (like Worlds of Pixar), while others are brand new. Here are the areas of Disney Adventure World, in one or two sentences each. For the full details (rides, restaurants, tips), head to the page for each land.

World Premiere: the park’s new entrance, where Studio 1 used to be. Details on the World Premiere page.

What’s been announced

The Lion King land: a new area based on the movie, announced by Disney. As of publication, no official opening date has been given. Keep an eye on the The Lion King land page.

Other additions have been mentioned for later phases of the project. Until they’re officially confirmed, I’d rather stay cautious and not announce any date.

Will there be a 3rd park at Disneyland Paris?

No. Disney Adventure World is not a 3rd park. It’s the 2nd park, the former Walt Disney Studios Park, being reworked and enlarged. So Disneyland Paris still has two parks: Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World.

The mix-up comes from how big the change is. But you don’t pay for a new ticket to a third park: Disney Adventure World is one of the two parks that already exist.
