At a glance

The second park at Disneyland Paris, Disney Adventure World sits in Marne-la-Vallée, part of the Val d’Europe area of Seine-et-Marne.

Opening day was March 16, 2002, ten years after Disneyland Park, and back then it was called Walt Disney Studios Park. It became Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026, the day the World of Frozen land opened.

The idea of a second park dates back to the mid-1990s. Its first incarnation, meant to open in 1996 as Disney-MGM Studios Europe, got canceled when Euro Disney ran into financial trouble. The project came back to life in 1997, downsized, and borrowed its concept from Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. On opening day in 2002, guests found only nine attractions spread over about 50 hectares, half the size of Disneyland Park. Among the earliest European designers on the project was Rémy Julienne, the French stuntman.

On February 27, 2018, Robert Iger announced at the Élysée Palace a €2 billion investment in Disneyland Paris, which included doubling the size of the park with three themed areas. Thanks to this expansion, the park now covers about 50 hectares. Today it has 13 attractions, 19 restaurants, and 11 stores.

The park is laid out in several lands. World Premiere Plaza is the entrance area, a makeover of the Front Lot and Studio 1, with Place des Frères Lumière and its fountain of Mickey as the sorcerer’s apprentice. Adventure Way is an Art Nouveau style walkway leading to Adventure Bay, a man-made lake covering nearly 3 hectares. Worlds of Pixar, created in 2021 out of Toon Studio, brings together the Pixar rides, including Crush’s Coaster, Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, Cars Road Trip, Ratatouille : L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy, and the Toy Story Playland area (RC Racer, Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, Slinky Dog Zig-Zag Spin). Marvel Avengers Campus, which opened on July 20, 2022, in place of the Backlot, offers Avengers Assemble: Flight Force (a reworked Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster) and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure. World of Frozen, open since March 29, 2026, takes its inspiration from Arendelle and features a mountain nearly 40 meters tall and Elsa’s castle.

The headline rides include The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which opened in 2007 in the Hollywood Boulevard area, with its elevator drop from the 13th floor. The park also has several shows: Mickey and the Magician since 2016, TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure since summer 2023, Stitch Live, and Minnie’s Dream Factory. The Disney Cascade of Lights nighttime show plays every evening on Adventure Bay lake, and has since March 29, 2026.

In 2023, the park welcomed 5.7 million visitors, making it 3rd in Europe and 20th in the world. A ride themed to Up and a future Lion King land are under construction right now.

The park is designed as a journey through Disney’s big franchises, laid out around Adventure Bay lake, which now shapes how you move through it. From the entrance at World Premiere Plaza, guests make their way from one land to the next, each one built around a single franchise. The guiding idea of the park rebranded in 2026: turn guests into adventurers themselves, with every land offering a mission or a story to take part in, a complete break from the original concept of movie studios watched from a distance.

Sustainability. The park keeps a close eye on its footprint: the big lake is fed by rainwater, the green spaces are watered with recycled water and managed with irrigation sensors, heat from the refrigeration units is reused for hot water, and heating relies on a geothermal network and a thermo-refrigerating heat pump (heating and cooling at the same time).

What sets it apart

A second park built around a big lake, with the World of Frozen land and plenty of top-quality indoor shows. Adventure Bay sits in the middle of the park, the new Frozen land opened in March 2026, and several well-loved indoor shows play here, such as Mickey and the Magician and TOGETHER. It’s a park that’s especially rich in indoor shows.

History

The second park at Disneyland Paris opened on March 16, 2002 as Walt Disney Studios Park, themed around Hollywood movie studios. Modeled on Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando (1989), it was meant to make guests stay longer at the resort by giving them a second park in Marne-la-Vallée.

Criticized from day one for how few rides it had, the park was expanded in several waves: Crush’s Coaster and Cars Quatre Roues Rallye in 2007, Tower of Terror in December 2007, Toy Story Playland in 2010, and Ratatouille in 2014. In February 2018, Disneyland Paris unveiled a huge expansion plan with three new lands based on Frozen, Marvel, and Star Wars.

On March 29, 2026, the park was renamed Disney Adventure World. That day the new World of Frozen land opened around Adventure Bay lake, alongside the growth of Marvel Avengers Campus (open since 2022), Worlds of Pixar, and Adventure Way (Tangled). This new direction is a clean break from the original studio theme.

Where the inspiration comes from

Back in 2002, when it opened as Walt Disney Studios, the park took its cue from Orlando’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios (1989). World of Frozen, new in 2026, is the French version of the land with that name at Hong Kong Disneyland (2023). As for the makeover around a central lake, it calls to mind Tokyo DisneySea (2001) a bit.

My verdict

Julie
Julie ★★★★☆ 200+ visits since 2023

Disney Adventure World is a park I like more and more, even if I feel less emotionally attached to it than to Disneyland Park. It isn’t the first one I discovered, and it has changed a lot over the years, so it feels different every time I go.

What I love most are its shows and thrill rides, which give the park more energy and intensity. For a long time, I also struggled with its dining options, but they keep getting better with each new space and project.

Above all, it’s a park looking ahead, with big ambitions. With World of Frozen now open, the Up projects, and the future Lion King area, Disney Adventure World is changing fast and becoming harder and harder to skip at Disneyland Paris.

Julie’s tip

08

Best time to go

If you’re spending several days at the resort, save Disney Adventure World for day 2, once you’ve explored Disneyland Park. From day 3 on, you can switch between the two parks however you like: by then you’ll know them well enough to find your way around easily. If you want to do both parks in a single day, spend mid-afternoon and early evening here instead, then end with the nighttime show at whichever park you prefer.

Map & getting there

Disney Adventure World is less than a 5-minute walk from Disneyland Park, right between the Disneyland Hotel and Disney Village. You’ll spot it by its giant water tower topped with Mickey ears.

Your questions about this park

01 Which park should you pick for a first visit with just one day?

For a first visit with just one day, I recommend Disneyland Park. With a 1-day 1-park ticket, it gives you the most: the castle, the parade, and the big rides for all ages, in the original world Walt Disney dreamed up.

02 Which park works best with young kids?

Go with Disneyland Park. You’ll find more rides made with little ones in mind, particularly in Fantasyland, and the overall feel suits them perfectly.

03 What is a dated 1-park ticket?

A dated 1-park ticket gets you into just one park, either Disneyland Park or Disney Adventure World, on one specific date. When you only have a single day and want to soak up one world completely, it’s often the easiest pick. I suggest it to first-timers who want Disneyland Park above all, since that’s where you’ll find the castle and the iconic rides. Its price depends on the date and on when you buy, and the official Disneyland Paris website shows it during booking.

04 Which stage shows are playing at Disneyland Paris in 2026?

In 2026, 7 major stage shows are on the schedule: Mickey’s PhilharMagic, The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Animation Academy, Mickey and the Magician, Minnie’s Dream Factory, Stitch Live!, and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. They play in air-conditioned theaters at Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World, with several performances a day.

05 What are the lands at Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park) after the transformation?

Disney Adventure World, which replaces the former Walt Disney Studios Park, is now divided into 6 lands. World Premiere Plaza (2 rides) has Tower of Terror, Les Tapis Volants, and the World Premiere hub. Avengers Campus (2 rides) brings together Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure. Worlds of Pixar (7 rides) is home to Crush’s Coaster, Ratatouille, RC Racer, Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, Cars ROAD TRIP, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin, and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop. World of Frozen (just one ride for now), which opened on March 29, 2026, features Frozen Ever After. Adventure Way (1 ride) is where you’ll find Raiponce Tangled Spin.

06 What is there to do at Disney Adventure World?

Mostly, you’ll find thrill rides and Marvel and Pixar worlds that Disneyland Park doesn’t have, spread across several lands: World of Frozen, Avengers Campus, Worlds of Pixar, World Premiere Plaza, Adventure Way, and soon The Lion King. On top of that, there are several indoor shows and, in the evening, Disney Cascade of Lights on Adventure Bay lake. For a detailed hour-by-hour plan, follow my guide to planning your day.

07 Is Disney Adventure World worth it?

Yes, if you go in knowing what you want from it. My rating is 4 out of 5 stars. This is where you come for thrills and the Marvel and Pixar worlds, plus great indoor shows and a nighttime show over the lake. The flip side: compared with Disneyland Park, the ride count is still lower, there’s no parade, and some areas are still being built. If it’s your first visit and you only have one day, Disneyland Park is the one I’d pick. Disney Adventure World makes the most sense once your trip lasts 2 days or more.

08 How long does it take to visit Disney Adventure World?

Allow anywhere from half a day to a whole day. Since the ride count is still limited, you can take everything in at a relaxed pace, shows included. If you’re staying several days, ideally make it your day 2 stop, after you’ve gotten to know Disneyland Park, and from day 3 on, hop between the two parks as you please.

09 What should you see first at Disney Adventure World?

Don’t miss Frozen Ever After in the new World of Frozen, the two Avengers Campus rides (Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure) and, on the Pixar side, Ratatouille and Crush’s Coaster. For big thrills, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is still a safe bet. Save some time for the Mickey and the Magician and TOGETHER shows too, and for Disney Cascade of Lights after dark. Plan ahead for the World of Frozen line, which has been in high demand since it opened.
