A lot has changed at Disney Village over the years. Some spots regulars were familiar with are now closed, or something new has moved in.
The list of what’s gone: Hurricanes (the nightclub), boating on Lake Disney, Planet Hollywood (the restaurant), La Tête dans les Nuages (the arcade), the old The Disney Gallery store, and New York Style Sandwiches, a sandwich shop.
This article covers what no longer exists. For Disney Village as it is today, with its current stores and restaurants, head over to my Disney Village guide.
Timeline of the Disney Village places that are gone
The Hurricanes nightclub
Opened in 1992, the Village’s only nightclub closed on March 14, 2010, because too few people came on weeknights.
La Marina (boating on the lake)
Pedal boats, electric rowboats, and the Love Boat on Lake Disney. Nobody knows exactly when it shut down.
Planet Hollywood
Opened in 1996, this movie-themed restaurant shut down permanently on January 7, 2023, more than 26 years later.
New York Style Sandwiches
The deli closed on December 1, 2024. Its space was taken over by the Sports Bar next door, which was expanded and reopened in November 2025.
The Disney Gallery
The former store made way for Disney Style (clothing) and Disney Glamour (jewelry and accessories), which opened on March 8, 2025.
La Tête dans les Nuages
The former arcade became Pelé Soccer, a soccer store that opened on May 22, 2026.
The Hurricanes nightclub
What it was. The one real nightclub in Disney Village, from 1992 to 2010. Florida-style decor inspired by Key West, live concerts, entertainment, and music until the early hours. When it closed, it was one of the last Disney clubs still running anywhere in the world.
When. It opened along with the park in 1992 and kept the nights lively for almost eighteen years, until it closed in 2010.
Why it closed. Attendance kept dropping. Fridays and Saturdays were still busy, but on weeknights the dance floor sat nearly empty. Disneyland Paris was also refocusing the resort on families. The last night was Sunday, March 14, 2010. The 11 staff members were moved to other jobs in the resort.
Today. A few traces of the old decor can still be spotted around the Village, if you know where to look.
Boating on Lake Disney (La Marina)
What it was. La Marina, the starting point for rides out on Lake Disney. You could rent pedal boats, electric rowboats, and the famous "Love Boat" there. It sat at the far end of the Village, right next to the PanoraMagique balloon.
When you could go. Saturdays, Sundays, French school vacations, and French public holidays, from 15:00, weather permitting. Life jackets were required.
Prices in those days. You can’t do it anymore, but this is what it used to cost:
| Activity | Price at the time |
|---|---|
| Pedal boat | €10 |
| Electric rowboat | €20 |
| Love Boat | €30 |
Prices back then for the boating activities
Why it closed. La Marina shut down as the Village evolved. You can no longer go out on Lake Disney.
Today. There are no boating activities left on-site. The PanoraMagique, though, is still around and lifts you high above the Village.
Planet Hollywood
What it was. A big movie-themed restaurant. A globe-shaped facade, neon lights, and movie costumes and props inside. The menu ran from burgers to pasta, all with a Hollywood vibe. Its opening was meant to boost dining in the Village, attract locals, and get guests to stay longer, at a time when Disneyland Paris had been struggling financially since it opened in 1992.
When. The chain first set up shop in North America, including at Walt Disney World (Disney Springs, then called Disney Village Marketplace) in 1994. The Paris restaurant followed two years later. It opened in July 1996. Its grand opening on November 22, 1996, is still remembered, with Sylvester Stallone and Gérard Depardieu parading in a cherry-red convertible.
Why it closed. After more than 26 years, the restaurant shut down permanently on January 7, 2023. I got to have a meal there on its final day, which felt very nostalgic, and I went home with the collector’s glass they offered to mark the occasion.
Today. The space was closed and then remodeled. It’s set to become an Italian restaurant, Casa Giulia, which hasn’t opened yet. You’ll find what the Village looks like now in my Disney Village guide.
The old arcade, known as La Tête dans les Nuages
What it was. A big game room and arcade in the Village, known to regulars as La Tête dans les Nuages. Plenty of families and teens knew the place well.
When it went away. The space was repurposed as part of the Village makeover. For a while it even housed a temporary LEGO store.
Why. The space was freed up for new brands, as part of the ongoing transformation of the Village.
Today. In its place you’ll find Pelé Soccer, a soccer store (official jerseys and accessories) that opened on May 22, 2026. It’s billed as the brand’s first store in Europe.
The Disney Gallery
What it was. A Disney Village store focused on art, home decor, and collectibles.
When it went away. It closed during the big overhaul of the Village stores.
Today. In its spot, you’ll now find Disney Style (clothing) and Disney Glamour (jewelry and accessories), which opened on March 8, 2025. If you’re looking for the same decor and home vibe as The Disney Gallery, the store that comes closest in terms of products today is Deco by Disney (it’s in a different part of the Village).
New York Style Sandwiches
What it was. A New York-themed deli: sandwiches, hot dogs, and American pastries, to go or for a quick bite. It lasted about twenty years in the Village. When it opened in 1992, it was called Carnegie’s Deli, before being renamed New York Style Sandwiches in 1999.
When it went away. It closed on December 1, 2024.
Why. No new brand moved into its space. Instead, it was folded into the Sports Bar next door, which had been in the Village since 1992. The Sports Bar was renovated and expanded into that area.
Today. In November 2025, everything reopened under one name: Sports Bar & Lounge. It’s covered in my guide to eating well at Disney Village.
Why has the Village changed so much?
Two shifts explain these closures. First, the move toward a more family-focused audience, which cost the nightclub its place as early as 2010. Then, the big Village transformation project launched in recent years, which reshaped restaurants and stores between 2023 and 2026. Between 2010 and 2023, in fact, the Village barely changed.
The result: today’s Village doesn’t look quite like the one from the 2000s anymore.
