Disneyland Paris offers free treasure hunts, with no reservation needed and included in your ticket. Two of them are long-running fixtures at Disneyland Park: the hunt for lost pirate items in Adventureland and the hunt for missing gold nuggets in Frontierland.
Depending on the season, there are also event hunts in both parks, like the M&M’s hunt during Halloween. In summer 2026, Disney Adventure World also ran a Pizza Planet truck hunt, which has now ended.
These are real scavenger hunts for the whole family, played at your own pace along the park paths. If you’re looking for a fun activity that costs nothing extra during your day, you’re in the right place.
A key detail to avoid any mix-up: all of these hunts happen within the parks. They’re unrelated to the Disney hotels’ Discovery Quest, the hotel-based treasure hunt across the resort. More on that below.

A quick look at every Disneyland Paris treasure hunt
All of these park treasure hunts are free and included with your park ticket. No reservation needed: you can join in whenever you like during your day.
This table isn’t a complete list. Disneyland Paris doesn’t always announce its treasure hunts, and some only last a few days, so keeping a full, up-to-date list is tough. To me, that’s exactly what makes them fun: you stumble on one by surprise as you turn down a path.

The Adventureland hunt (the lost pirate items)
Set up in summer 2025, on August 23, 2025 to be exact, this hunt is permanent. It draws on the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and was dreamed up by the Walt Disney Imagineering Paris teams. Its concept is a lot like the interactive game A Pirate’s Adventures: Treasures of the Seven Seas, which has been running at Magic Kingdom in Florida since 2013.
The idea is easy to follow. Characters from the ride have lost some of their belongings, and it’s up to you to track them down. Scrolls posted at the cave entrance set out the challenge. Among the hidden items, for example, there’s a ring of keys misplaced by a dog that’s supposed to be guarding the pirates locked up in the fort.
Where. It all happens in the Adventure Isle caves, next door to Pirates of the Caribbean. Tunnels, hanging bridges, and hidden passages make it an ideal backdrop for a game like this.
How. Start at the mouth of the caves. Posted there are scrolls naming the eight objects you need to uncover while roaming the caverns:
- a ring of keys (the one the dog is watching over)
- a wooden leg
- a pirate’s tricorn hat
- a compass
- an accordion
- an anchor
- a knife
- a pair of shoes
It’s an observation game, open to everyone and free. There’s no sheet to pick up from a Cast Member (what Disneyland Paris calls its employees): you read the scrolls and off you go. Jot down what you find on your phone so you don’t miss anything.
The Frontierland hunt (the missing gold nuggets)
Running since May 2025, this hunt turns you into a Wild West gold prospector. Sheriff Will Ketchum needs a hand: outlaws have stashed 17 nuggets all over the town of Thunder Mesa, and they need to be found.
Nuggets are tucked away across all of Frontierland, even on the facades and inside the stores and restaurants. You need to find at least 10 of the 17 to have your entry validated.
This hunt is new, so double-check on site that it’s running on the day you visit.
Ask a Cast Member in Frontierland for the hunt flyer.
Wander through Thunder Mesa looking for the hidden nuggets (the stores and restaurants count too).
On your flyer, write down a minimum of 10 nuggets out of the 17.
Hand in your completed flyer at the register in the Thunder Mesa Mercantile Building store.
Collect your reward.
Seasonal hunts (like the M&M’s one at Halloween)
On top of the two permanent hunts, the park brings back other ones as each Disney season rolls around. The most famous is the M&M’s hunt, held during the Halloween season.
Here’s how it goes: you pick up a game card at the Boardwalk Candy Palace counter on Main Street U.S.A., then head off to look for decorated doors hidden all around the park. You mark each door on the card with a sticker, and once you’ve finished, a surprise is waiting for you at Boardwalk Candy Palace.
Limited-time treasure hunts
Apart from the seasons, the park also holds one-off hunts tied to an event (a movie release, a partnership). They last anywhere from a few weeks to an entire summer.
The Toy Story treasure hunt (summer 2026, now over)
From June 17 to September 30, 2026, Disney Adventure World hosted a hunt tied to the release of Toy Story 5. That edition is now over. The goal was to find the 15 Pizza Planet trucks, each with its own decoration, scattered around the Worlds of Pixar land (themed area). The hunt was free and open to everyone.
The Lorcana treasure hunt (September 2026, now over)
From September 4 to 20, 2026, Disneyland Park hosted the Lorcana hunt, based on the Disney Lorcana card game. That edition is now over. Six large illustrations were spread around the park, each showing a character reimagined in the style of the game. Among them: Woody as "Jungle Guide," Tinker Bell as "Giant Fairy," and Aurora as "Dreaming Guardian." Powerline showed up too, as the "World’s Greatest Rock Star."
Here’s how it worked. First, you picked up a free booklet from the Guest Flow Cast Members at the park entrance (along with a free booster pack). Each illustration you found went on the booklet map, using the sticker that matched its ink color. Once you had spotted all six, a Cast Member at The Storybook Store handed over the exclusive Buzz Lightyear "Keeping Watch" promo card.
There was more Lorcana fun going on than just the hunt during those weeks. It belonged to a wider promotion offering three exclusive cards, and each one came from a separate activity.
- The treasure hunt
- finding the six illustrations in the park got you the Buzz Lightyear card.
- The collection quest
- you had to open the free booster pack, then collect the four cards shown on the booklet. These cards were different from one booklet to the next. You got them by trading with other players at the Illumineer’s Lounge (at Chalet de la Marionnette), where dedicated kiosks also made trading easier. Collecting all four got you the Mickey Mouse "Champion" card.
- The purchase bonus
- once your Lorcana shopping at The Storybook Store hit €30, the Elsa "The Fifth Spirit" card came free with it.
My tips
- Be a good sport: skip searching online for the answers, because hunting is half the fun.
- Don’t post the locations on social media, so other families can keep the suspense.
- On the Frontierland hunt, take part just once. Those are the rules, and other families deserve a shot too.
- For Frontierland and the seasonal hunts, grab the flyer or card early in the day, since supplies can run out.
- Fit the game in between rides: you set the pace, and there’s no rush.
- These hunts are new: if one catches your eye, check on site that it’s running on the day you visit.
