Standing in line for an hour with restless kids just to hug a character is exactly what the Disneyland Paris virtual queue saves you from. This free system lets you book a meet and greet time in the official app instead of waiting on the spot. You grab your time slot, keep enjoying the park, and head back to the meeting spot when your time comes.
Below, I walk you through how it works, the characters on the list, the booking process one step at a time, the fine print, and the tricks I use to snag a slot even when they go fast.
What is the virtual queue?
The virtual queue is a free system that replaces standing in a physical line at a meet and greet spot. Rather than lining up, you book a time slot in the Disneyland Paris app and come back at the time it gives you. In the meantime, you’re free to enjoy the rides and everything else the park has to offer.
It all runs through the official app, and the queue only opens at specific times. After you’ve secured a slot, you’ll get an alert from the app as your meet and greet draws near.
This really is a free service, so don’t mix it up with Premier Access, which costs extra and applies to rides. The character virtual queue doesn’t cost a thing: it comes with your ticket.
On April 18, 2025, Disneyland Paris announced it would gradually roll out this system to its best-known characters. Before that announcement, a virtual queue was already in place for the Marvel Super Heroes, ever since Avengers Campus (Disney Adventure World) opened on July 20, 2022. That makes it the longest-running virtual queue meet and greet.
Which meet and greets use it?
There are actually two lists to keep apart. On one side, the meet and greets that use the virtual queue almost all year long (a stable list). On the other, the current meet and greets, which come and go with rotations and seasons. I’m covering both, because this is exactly what gets muddled from one website to the next.
Meet and greets that usually use the virtual queue
| Characters | Location | Land | Park | Since |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marvel Super Heroes | Hero Training Center | Avengers Campus | Disney Adventure World | July 20, 2022 |
| Mickey Mouse | Meet Mickey | Fantasyland | Disneyland Park | 2025 |
| Disney Princesses | Princess Pavilion | Fantasyland | Disneyland Park | 2025 |
| Elsa and Anna | A Royal Encounter with Elsa and Anna | World of Frozen | Disney Adventure World | 2026 |
Meet and greets offered through the virtual queue almost all year round.
Meet and greets using the virtual queue right now
Meet and greets currently offered through the virtual queue, updated automatically.
Why a stable list and a current one? Because a meet and greet spot can change with what’s new at the movies. The "Animation Celebration" area (Disney Adventure World) sometimes hosts a meet and greet tied to a movie release, for example characters from Zootopia for Zootopia 2 or from Toy Story for Toy Story 5. These meet and greets change as new movies come out, so there isn’t always one running.
On top of that, there are seasonal meet and greets. For instance, Jack Skellington and Sally settle in at Critter Corral (Frontierland) during the Halloween season, with a virtual queue.
To keep up with all these changes, the "right now" list above updates live from Disney’s official schedule: it shows the meet and greets that have a virtual queue today, along with their status. Still, remember to check the app, which remains the go-to source day to day.
How do you book a meet and greet?
You’ll do everything in the official Disneyland Paris app, and booking only unlocks once your ticket is scanned at the park gates. Follow these steps.
Download the app
Get the official Disneyland Paris app on your phone, either ahead of your trip or once you’re there.
Link your ticket
Connect your ticket, annual pass, or vacation package to your Disney account in the app.
Scan your ticket at the entrance
Booking only opens up once your ticket has been scanned at the park entrance. Then book a time slot for yourself and your group, up to 6 people.
Get the notification
As your meet and greet gets close, the app pings you. You don’t have to hang around the area in the meantime.
Head to the meeting spot
Show up at the meet and greet location listed in the app when your time slot arrives.

Finding a character in the app
- Open the "Attractions" menu That’s where you start from the app’s home screen.
- Switch to "Characters" This brings up the meet and greet spots instead of the rides.
- Browse the map Use the map to locate the character or spot you’d like to visit.
- Tap "Join the queue" Then read the conditions shown on screen before moving on.
- Make your pick under "Choose your experience" Select the character you want, then confirm your time slot.
- If "Select" is grayed out That means the queue is closed for now: you’ll have to wait for it to open again.
The rules to know
- Booking only inside the park Booking only works once you’re on site and your ticket has gone through the entrance scanner. You can’t do it from your hotel room or while waiting outside.
- Good for the same day A booking only counts for the current day.
- The whole group must be booked Every member of your party needs to be on the booking, with a maximum of 6 people per slot.
- 1-day 1-park ticket You only get access to the meet and greets in the park where your ticket was scanned.
- 1-day 2-park ticket You can book in either of the two parks once your ticket has been scanned.
- No smartphone Find a Cast Member at the meet and greet area. Depending on availability, they can lend a hand.
- Only one active booking at a time You need to have done or canceled your current meet and greet before booking another one.
- Not the same character twice You can’t book the same character twice on the same day.
- No more priority line for guests with disabilities Since the physical lines were removed, there’s no longer a priority line for guests with disabilities at these spots: everyone goes through the app.
My tips for landing a time slot
Rule number one for me: book early, right after your ticket gets scanned. Slots fill up fast, particularly for crowd favorites such as Mickey or the princesses. The minute you’re inside, pull up the app and secure your slot, then go ride.
A few more habits that work for me:
- Set a phone alarm a few minutes ahead of the slot release so it doesn’t slip by.
- Track which slots are still open in my meet and greet guides, which I keep current.
- When the headliners are sold out (Mickey, the princesses), turn to the Marvel Super Heroes instead: they tend to be far easier to book. As for the Star Wars characters, you meet them at the Starport with no booking at all.
What times are the slots?
Be careful not to mix up two different times: when the queue opens in the app (the moment you can book) and the time of your slot (when the meet and greet actually happens). The table below gives you a rough idea of when the meet and greets themselves take place.
Slot times shift daily and nothing is set in stone, so treat the table as a ballpark, not a commitment. The app has the exact details for any given day.
| Type of characters | Usual time window |
|---|---|
| Princesses and classic Fantasyland characters | Often in the morning (around 10:00-12:00) and early afternoon |
| Marvel Super Heroes | Mostly in the afternoon (around 13:00-15:00) |
| Pixar, Toy Story, and Adventureland characters | Mostly late afternoon (around 16:00-17:30) |
Ballpark meet and greet times. Double-check them in the app when you visit.
If there are no slots left when you look, don’t give up. Disneyland Paris usually opens the queue several times a day: often once in the morning (often at 9:45) and once in the afternoon (often at 14:00). Sometimes there’s even an extra opening in the late afternoon (often around 17:30). These queue opening times are common but not guaranteed, so always check the app.
Dig deeper
Now that you’ve got the system down, you can plan your specific meet and greets. Browse all the character meet and greets to see who you can meet and where. For two of the most popular ones, here are my dedicated guides: meeting the princesses and meeting Mickey.
Frequently asked questions
01 How does the character virtual queue work?
It all happens in the official app, once your ticket has been scanned at the park entrance (not before, and only for that same day). You book a free time slot. Slots usually open in two waves (in the morning when the park opens and in the early afternoon), sometimes with a third in the late afternoon. Only one booking can be active at a time, with a limit of 6 people per slot and up to 5 character meets per day. Everyone in your group, kids included, has to be counted.
