What is a Hidden Mickey?
A Hidden Mickey is a Mickey silhouette deliberately concealed in the scenery by the Imagineers, the people who design Disney parks. The most common shape is the classic one: a big circle for the head and two small circles for the ears.
It’s the Imagineers themselves who slip them in while designing the rides and sets, as a little wink to guests who pay attention. Most of them have never been officially confirmed by Disney: some are clearly intentional, while fans argue about others. That’s what makes the game fun.
You’ll come across them just about everywhere: in the lines, the murals, the stained glass, the furniture, and sometimes even in the patterns on the ground. The idea exists in every Disney park in the world, and Disneyland Paris is no exception. It’s one of the park’s best-kept secrets. To discover all the others, head to the secrets of Disneyland Paris.
How many Hidden Mickeys are there at Disneyland Paris?
Disney has never released a count, and the real total stays under wraps. That means no one can honestly say they’ve listed every single one in the park.
For my part, I keep hunting for them and snapping photos each time I’m in the park. My count stands at 98 so far, between the park and the hotels. The ones I’ve located myself are listed further down this page.
How do you find and spot a Hidden Mickey?
No equipment or extra ticket required: all it takes is a sharp eye. This is the approach I follow every time I go hunting for them.
- Look up: plenty of them are tucked up high, way above people’s heads.
- Search the lines: they’re the perfect spot, since you spend time there and the scenery is detailed.
- Study the details: murals, stained glass, furniture, curtains, dishes, patterns in the paving stones.
- Look for the shape: one big circle with two small circles attached as ears, that’s your clue.
- Change your angle and the time of day: some only show up from a certain angle or at a specific moment.
- Take your time: if you rush from one ride to the next, you’ll walk right past them.
My favorite Hidden Mickeys
To whet your appetite, here are a few I always enjoy showing people. You’ll get the complete list in the next section.
My number one is the clock on City Hall, on Main Street: at certain times of day, its hands line up into a Mickey shape. Timing is everything.
On Pirates of the Caribbean, glance overhead while your boat glides along: there’s a Hidden Mickey in the details above. And at Phantom Manor, scan the grand ballroom carefully: a Mickey blends into the decor there.

List of Hidden Mickeys at the Disney hotels
The Disney hotels have a few Hidden Mickeys of their own, outside the two parks. Here are the ones I’ve found:
6 Hidden Mickeys
During Halloween season, in the Fantasy Gardens flower beds outside the parks, facing the Disneyland Hotel.
Set in a bed of yellow chrysanthemums, three orange pumpkins make Mickey’s head. You can only spot it during Halloween season.
On the lobby ceiling
On the bridge that links Disney Hotel Cheyenne to Disney Hotel Santa Fe
In the entrance
On the walking path that leads to the parks
In the lobby, in the foosball table
Hidden Mickeys that have disappeared
A list of Hidden Mickeys never stays the same. When the park changes, the scenery changes too, and some Mickeys go with it.
That’s exactly what happened with the transformation into Disney Adventure World: retheming the former Walt Disney Studios Park, including its old entrance, wiped out several Hidden Mickeys I had spotted there. I keep them on my list as gone, for the record.
These are the ones I found over the years that are no longer there:
2 Hidden Mickeys
On the big gate at the entrance
On the floor, made by the laser projections (this Hidden Mickey is gone today)
Gone since the former Studio 1 became World Premiere Plaza.
The most impressive one I photographed was at the entrance to the old Studio 1: a Hidden Mickey appeared on the ground thanks to laser projections. That building has become World Premiere, and the Mickey vanished along with it.
