Disneyland Paris: make your own wand

A glass wand, filled with colored gems you choose, then sealed by a glassblower right before your eyes. Here’s how wand making at Disneyland Paris works, what the 12 colors mean, and what it costs.

At Disneyland Paris, the place to craft a glass wand yourself is La Boutique de Merlin l’Enchanteur, inside Sleeping Beauty Castle in the Fantasyland area of Disneyland Park. You put it together from A to Z: pick the glass body, add three colored gems out of twelve, and finish with any engraving you like. Then a glassblower seals it while you look on.

Prices start at €49.99, plus €7 for engraving. It’s a personalized souvenir kids adore.

Where can you make your own wand at Disneyland Paris?

Head to La Boutique de Merlin l’Enchanteur for this one. The shop sits within Sleeping Beauty Castle itself, in the Fantasyland section of Disneyland Park, and Arribas runs it. That’s the same company responsible for the park’s other engraved glass pieces.

Here I stick to making the wand. If you want the full rundown of the shop and everything else it sells, read Arribas Brothers and the Merlin shop, and check out the collectible keys made of crystal.

A glassblower (a glass craftsman) shapes the glass as you watch and closes up your wand after it’s been filled. Seeing it done live is the real draw: what you take home was crafted in front of you, rather than grabbed from a display.

You can also do this at Harrington’s Fine China and Porcelains on Main Street U.S.A., which is another Disneyland Park shop run by Arribas. Still, the main spot is Merlin l’Enchanteur, inside the castle.

The castle is undergoing a phased renovation in 2026. The shop remains open, though how you get in may shift as the construction moves along, so ask on site.

How does wand making work, step by step?

There are five steps, all done in the shop with the staff guiding you.

Step 1

Choose the glass body

First, you select the container, meaning the body of the wand. Several glass shapes and colors are available: this is the base of your piece.

Step 2

Choose three gems

Next, you pick three gems out of twelve colors, each with its own meaning (see the table below). The team measures out each gem based on your lucky number (the number you give them, often an age or a date), then mixes them so they’re spread evenly.

Step 3

Fill the wand

You fill the wand with the gems you picked. It’s a fun step: the team whispers a little spell to your child, who says it out loud while filling. Younger kids love it.

Step 4

Sealing by the glassblower

Next comes the glassblower, who seals the container with heat as you watch. The glass has to cool before your wand is ready in its box, so the sales associate will usually give you a ticket showing when to return.

Step 5

Personalized engraving

Finally, you can have the wand engraved: a name, a symbol, or a short phrase. It’s optional, but it’s what makes the souvenir feel really personal.

My tips

  • A great souvenir for kids: they pick the colors, say the spell, and leave with something that reflects who they are. Kids help choose and fill the wand. The glasswork itself is done by the artisan.
  • Pick gems whose meaning matters to you: read through the table of meanings before settling on your choice. That beats choosing at random.
  • Think about engraving: a name or a short phrase turns the wand into a personalized gift.
  • Avoid the busiest hours: the shop is inside the castle and can get crowded around midday. Mornings and late afternoons are calmer, and the pickup ticket comes faster.
