Yes, you can propose at Disneyland Paris during a normal visit, without organising a whole wedding. It’s entirely possible, it’s allowed and it’s much simpler than it looks.
The proposal happens during a normal day: you choose a spot and a moment, plan a way to capture a photo and that’s it. No permission or special booking is needed, as long as you don’t get in anyone’s way.
The most popular spot is still Sleeping Beauty Castle, ideally early in the morning when the park is almost empty, or at sunset. But other settings work very well too: a dinner for two at a table-service restaurant, or the night-time show Disney Tales of Magic as a backdrop. I go through it all below.
If you’d rather hand it over, there’s also a paid, all-inclusive option through the Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings programme (dedicated photographer, characters possible, priced on a quote basis): I cover it further down, with a link to getting married at Disneyland Paris. Here, I’ll start with a proposal you organise yourself.
Where should you propose at Disneyland Paris?
The most popular spot is Sleeping Beauty Castle, right at the end of Main Street U.S.A. For an open setting with fewer people, stand on the square in front of the castle, slightly to the left (towards the entrance to Dragon’s Lair, the dragon’s den): the view is lovely and the spot is less crowded than the middle of the square.
A few polished alternatives depending on your day:
- Sleeping Beauty Castle: the classic choice, with an iconic view. Go for the left side (towards Dragon’s Lair) for an open setting.
- The square in front of the castle (Central Plaza): an open setting with Main Street U.S.A. in the background, beautiful at sunrise or sunset. Watch out: the Central Plaza bandstand is also a character meet and greet spot at certain times, so go first thing in the morning to have the place to yourselves.
- The lobby or fountain of the Disneyland Hotel: an elegant, sheltered setting, handy if you’re staying there or if the weather looks unsettled.
- A quiet corner of the park: early in the morning at opening time or right at the end of the evening, the park empties and you’ll easily find a moment for two.
Can you propose during the night-time show in front of the castle?
Yes, but with an important caveat. Disney Tales of Magic is a daily night-time show, with projections on the castle and on the facades of Main Street U.S.A. It usually includes pyrotechnics, sometimes suspended because of the weather or regulations. It’s spectacular, but the square is packed and can’t be privatised: you won’t be able to find a quiet moment in the crowd.
My advice: use the show as an emotional backdrop, not as your private moment. Get there 30 to 40 minutes before it starts for a good spot, then time your proposal just before or just after the show rather than during it. That way you’ll be able to hear each other and still enjoy the atmosphere and the lights.
Proposing over dinner: which restaurants should you choose?
A dinner for two in a table-service restaurant gives you a calm, polished setting, ideal if you prefer privacy to the crowds in the park. For a proper romantic dinner, two restaurants suit the occasion well:
- Walt’s offers table service on Main Street U.S.A., with a hushed atmosphere, right inside the park. Expect around 55 per person.
- Manhattan Restaurant (Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel): an elegant, relaxed setting for an evening meal. Expect around 55 per person.
Remember to book these table-service restaurants early: up to two months in advance for the most popular ones. Above all, mention the occasion when you book (see below): Disney can then arrange a few special touches.

Can you tell the restaurant about a special occasion?
Yes. You can mention the occasion when you book your restaurant. Disney helps arrange romantic celebrations, and touches such as a personalised cake or champagne are available on request. It’s better to mention it in advance rather than at the last minute.
This is officially confirmed, but the exact touches depend on the restaurant and on availability: state your request clearly when you book and confirm it on site on the day. Expect to pay extra for the cake or champagne, usually on a quote basis.
How to get photos of your proposal
The most reliable option is the PhotoPass service. Disney photographers are stationed at iconic spots around the park, including in front of the castle, and you can ask them to take your picture. The trick: get a photographer in position at the chosen spot, then pop the question at that moment. You’ll get a sharp, well-framed photo of the moment, which a selfie can’t give you.
The Disney PhotoPass+ bundle costs €90 in 2026, valid for 10 days, with unlimited digital photos and videos. If you have the Disneyland Pass Gold, it’s included for a year. A free alternative: ask a friend or relative to hide in the crowd with a phone to film or photograph the scene.
Is there a paid package that organises everything?
Yes. If you don’t want to handle anything yourself, Disney offers an all-inclusive option through the Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings programme. Depending on the package, it can include a dedicated photographer, a reserved setting and possibly Disney characters. Everything is priced on a quote basis, after contacting the dedicated team.
It’s the option to choose if you want a polished set-up with nothing left to chance, but it comes at a cost and needs planning ahead. For the details and contacts, see my guide to getting married at Disneyland Paris, which covers both arranged proposals and on-site ceremonies.
Do you need permission to propose in the park?
No, you don’t need any permission to propose during a normal visit. You can get down on one knee and pop the question in a public area, as long as you don’t block the way or bother other visitors.
What isn’t allowed, on the other hand: climbing onto a show stage, blocking a parade route or the entrance and queue of a ride, or any elaborate staging that would disrupt the running of the park. Keep it simple and spontaneous and you won’t have any problems.
How much does a proposal at Disneyland Paris cost?
Good news: a proposal during a normal visit stays affordable. All you need is the price of a visit, plus a dinner for two and, if you like, the photo bundle. Nothing like the budget for an all-inclusive package or a wedding on site.
Here are rough figures for 2026 (to be confirmed depending on your choices):
| Item | Rough cost in 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Park ticket | Price of a standard ticket (varies by date) | |
| Disney PhotoPass+ bundle | €90 (included for 1 year with the Disneyland Pass Gold) | |
| Dinner for two (Walt’s or Manhattan Restaurant) | Around 55 to 55 per person | |
| Character meal (La Table de Lumière) | Single set menu at around 120 per adult | |
| Special touches (cake, champagne) | Optional, on request at the restaurant | |
| All-inclusive package (Fairy Tale Weddings) | On a quote basis |

Frequently asked questions
01 Where should you propose at Disneyland Paris?
Sleeping Beauty Castle is the most popular spot, with an open setting on its left-hand side (towards Dragon’s Lair). The forecourt in front of the castle and the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel are also lovely alternatives. Go very early in the morning, when the park is almost empty.
02 Which restaurant should you choose for a romantic dinner?
For a proper romantic dinner, go for Walt’s (around €55 per person) or Manhattan Restaurant (around €55). Avoid La Table de Lumière for an intimate proposal: it’s a character dining restaurant where princes and princesses visit every table (set menu around €120 per adult).
03 Can you propose during the night-time show in front of the castle?
Yes, but the forecourt is packed and impossible to have to yourselves during Disney Tales of Magic. Use the show as a backdrop and time your proposal just before or just after, so you can hear each other and keep it intimate.
04 How do you get photos of your proposal?
Ask a Disney PhotoPass photographer to stand at the planned spot, then pop the question. The PhotoPass+ bundle costs €90 in 2026 (unlimited photos and videos, 10 days). Have a friend or relative hidden with a phone as plan B.
05 Is there a paid package that organises everything?
Yes. Disney offers a turnkey package through the Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings programme, with a dedicated photographer, a reserved setting and the option of characters, on a quote basis. The details are in my guide to getting married at Disneyland Paris.
06 Do you need permission to propose in the park?
No, you don’t need any permission as long as you don’t get in anyone’s way. You can go down on one knee in a public area. However, you’re not allowed to hold up a ride or a parade, or to climb onto a show stage.
