At a glance
Dapper Dan’s Hair Cuts is a real, working hair salon and barbershop, located at 1428 Flower Street on Main Street U.S.A. Designed by Imagineer Eddie Sotto, it recreates an American barbershop from the turn of the twentieth century. The gold leaf on the windows uses a technique practiced by Eddie Sotto’s grandfather, who was a gilder by trade.
From the outside, the beige storefront mirrors the one at Magic Kingdom in Florida (1971): an American flag hangs out front, a twisted red-and-white barber pole stands by the door, and gold-leaf letters decorate the windows.
Inside, the shop faithfully recreates an early twentieth-century American salon: a black-and-white checkerboard tile floor typical of the pre-1920 era, burgundy Victorian-pattern wallpaper hand-screened by Bradbury & Bradbury Art Wallpapers, dark wood paneling framing three mirrors, cubbyhole cabinets filled with shaving mugs dating from before 1910, an antique stove, a marble sink, a fan with exposed wiring, and a party-line telephone that plays a funny little skit. The old mugs are a reminder of the days when each customer kept his own at the shop between visits.
At the center of the room stand two tufted burgundy leather chairs made by the Theo. A. Kochs Company of Chicago, alongside a late nineteenth-century The Globe steam towel warmer from the Chrisholm Company of New York, which prop designer Bethan Brody stumbled upon in a restaurant where she had ducked in to escape a thunderstorm.
Services include adult and kids’ haircuts, classic shaves, and beard care, and the shop also sells alum blocks, cologne, and shaving soap with a bowl.
A working barbershop since 1992. Expect old-fashioned haircuts and shaves with a hot towel, a shaving brush, and shaving soap, in a recreated American salon from the turn of the twentieth century, right down to the antique shaving mugs: back then, each customer kept his own mug at the shop between visits.
What you’ll find
History
Back on April 12, 1992, the salon opened under the name Harmony Barber Shop. In the mid-1990s, it took the name Dapper Dan’s Hair Cuts, after the Dapper Dans, the singing quartet created in 1959 at the very first Disneyland. If you look closely at the mirror out front, a small mention of Harmony is still there. Only two Disney parks run a working barbershop: Paris and Magic Kingdom in Florida.

Your questions about this shop
01 Where can you buy Disney merchandise at Disneyland Paris?
There are four main places to shop: Disneyland Park (Main Street U.S.A. above all, plus every land), Disney Adventure World, Disney Village (open to everyone, no park ticket required), and, if you book an official Disney hotel, the shop inside your hotel. My dedicated article walks you through the main shops.
02 Is there a way to shop without lugging bags around all day?
Yes. The Shopping Service lets you have your purchases sent to a pickup point, so you can collect them later at the same shop, at another shop on your way out of the park, or even at your Disney hotel’s shop. The service is free in most shops (with a minimum purchase). Just ask the cast member at checkout.
03 What are the shop hours?
Shops inside the parks roughly follow park hours, often opening a little earlier on Main Street U.S.A. and closing a little later after the nighttime show. Disney Village shops have their own hours, usually running later into the evening. You’ll find the exact hours in the Disneyland Paris app.
04 Can you buy Disneyland Paris merchandise online?
There’s no official Disneyland Paris online store. To shop from home, you can use the Disney Store website (formerly shopDisney), which sells official Disney merchandise and sometimes a few items specific to Disneyland Paris. At the resort itself, you buy everything directly in the shops.
