At a glance

Downtown Restaurant is the main buffet restaurant at Disney’s Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, at Disneyland Paris. The idea is to capture New York’s melting-pot spirit and the food you’d find across its neighborhoods.

The look is clean and modern: light wood tones, black and white, wooden furniture, round chandeliers, and black-and-white Marvel comic pages framed on the walls. The roomy dining room has a mix of round and square tables, plus high chairs for little ones.

It works as an all-you-can-eat buffet with dishes from several cuisines: American, Italian, and Asian. Some of the food is put together at the counter while you watch. The restaurant also serves a continental breakfast in the morning. You can order a birthday dessert to share at the start of the meal.

What sets it apart

A Marvel art gallery with an open kitchen. This premium all-you-can-eat buffet inside the Art of Marvel hotel shows off over 90 original superhero sketches by comic book artists. The counters serve New York favorites, from homemade pizza and Asian dishes to sliders cooked right in front of you.

The most popular tables go fast, often several weeks ahead: I recommend booking as soon as your dates are set. Also look at the menu before you go, so you’ll know right away whether this restaurant appeals to you and won’t waste time once you’re there.

History

Downtown Restaurant opened on June 21, 2021, along with the new Disney’s Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel. It sits where the old Parkside Diner operated from 1992 to 2019.

The place got a complete makeover. The original theme, a retro 1930s diner, gave way to a sleek modern look that celebrates New York street art and houses the hotel’s largest collection of Marvel sketches.

My verdict

Julie
Julie ★★★★☆ 200+ visits since 2023

Downtown Restaurant is the all-you-can-eat international buffet at Disney’s Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, with American, Italian, and Asian food side by side. What makes it stand out is the sheer variety, with dishes cooked as you watch, in a polished modern setting.

I’ve eaten here and the food is very good, with a nice range of Italian, American, and Asian options. Plan on about €55 per adult and €30 per child at this restaurant that opened in 2021, in a stylish city-inspired space. My complaints: I find the dining room a bit loud, and it gets warm because the kitchens sit close to the tables. The Marvel theming is also fairly subtle.

I recommend it for families who want a varied, international buffet. It’s less of a fit if you’re after a quiet meal or a strong Marvel atmosphere.

Your questions about this restaurant

01 How can I reserve a table at one of the Disneyland Paris restaurants?

There are four ways to book. The easiest is still the official Disneyland Paris app ("Dining" section), signed in to your Disney account. You can also call the reservation line at +33 1 60 30 40 50, use the official website through the Dining menu, or book in person at City Hall, Studio Services, or your Disney hotel’s concierge desk. Before you decide, I suggest you download my free file by email, which gathers every Disneyland Paris restaurant menu in one place. It makes choosing so much easier.

02 How early can I make a Disneyland Paris restaurant reservation?

The booking window depends on where you’re staying. If you’re at a Disney hotel, you can book up to 1 year ahead, as soon as your stay is confirmed. That’s a real advantage for very popular restaurants like Auberge de Cendrillon or the character buffets. If you’re coming for the day without a Disney hotel, you can book up to 2 months (60 days) ahead. You can reserve through the Disneyland Paris app, on the official website, or by phone at +33 1 60 30 40 50. My advice: book the moment the window opens for character dining and for weekend evenings or French school vacation evenings, or the time slots go fast.

03 Is it still possible to get a table the same day with no reservation?

Yes, it’s possible but not guaranteed. Some restaurants run a "walk-in line" depending on the seats that open up during the day. Go to the restaurant’s host stand and ask whether they have room. The app also shows time slots as they free up in real time (last-minute cancellations), and I check it often when I’m after a last-minute table. Otherwise, fall back on the quick-service counters and snack stands, which never require a reservation. Tip: eating lunch at off-peak times (before 12:00 or after 14:00) greatly improves your chances of getting a table without a reservation.

04 How do you cancel a Disney restaurant reservation?

Canceling is easy in the official Disneyland Paris app. Go to "Account > My dining reservations", pick the reservation you want, and confirm the cancellation. You can also cancel by phone at +33 1 60 30 40 50. Cancel as soon as you know you won’t make it: it frees up a spot for other guests and it’s a nice thing to do. Important: you can’t change the time or the number of people in your party directly in the app. If you need a change, you have two options: cancel and make a new reservation (if time slots are still open), or call the reservation line at +33 1 60 30 40 50.

05 When I book, can I request a high chair or a birthday cake, or say I’m using a meal plan?

Yes. When you book (app, phone, or website), you’ll find a "Special Request" field where you can make several requests. You can ask for a high chair for your baby, a birthday cake (at an extra charge), mention a food intolerance or allergy, or let them know you want to use your half-board meal plan. For the birthday cake, I suggest asking right when you book to be sure one is available. If you didn’t, you can also ask when you arrive at the restaurant, and they’ll try to work something out depending on what they have that day.
