At a glance

Cowboy Cookout Barbecue is a quick-service restaurant in Frontierland, inside Disneyland Park. The building is a made-up red barn called Cottonwood Creek, in the classic tradition of American Westerns.

The exterior uses every Wild West touch: a red wooden facade with barn doors, shutters, shingled awnings, stacked barrels, big yellow wagon wheels, painted silos, rustic lanterns, and vintage signs. The indoor dining room keeps a rustic feel, while a huge outdoor patio shaded by large umbrellas welcomes guests with wooden tables and a view over Frontierland.

You order at the counter, and you can also use Mobile Order through the mobile app. The menu centers on traditional American food, especially grilled meats, smoked meats, and Tex-Mex dishes.

What sets it apart

A barn full of Western barbecue. Built of red-painted wood, this enormous building brings to mind the ranches of Gold Rush America. Smoked pork ribs, grilled chicken, and pieces of corn are the stars of the menu. Every now and then, country musicians take the indoor stage and play while your family eats.

History

Opened on April 12, 1992, this large restaurant is one of the original buildings of Frontierland. It’s one of the biggest indoor dining spaces in the park, built to look like a huge barn from the American West.

Over the years, the space has often hosted live country bands on its indoor stage, although its walls and its name haven’t been changed since opening day.

My verdict

Julie
Julie ★★★★½ 200+ visits since 2023

Housed in a huge red barn straight out of a Western, Cowboy Cookout Barbecue is Frontierland’s counter-service home of grilled meats. What I like most is the flavorful barbecue, served in a Wild West mood that picks up right where neighboring Big Thunder Mountain leaves off.

After many meals here, I count it among my top quick-service picks in the whole park. Expect roughly €15 for an adult and €10 for a child, at a spot that dates back to 1992. The ribs are a favorite of mine, I enjoy how seamlessly the theme continues from the coaster beside it, and the roomy shaded patio adds to the appeal. Its biggest weakness: it opens for only a few hours, so time your visit carefully. Grilled food dominates the menu, and you can use Mobile Order.

A great choice if you love barbecue or Western settings. Less suited if you need lots of options or flexible hours.

Your questions about this restaurant

01 Where can you find cheap eats in the Disneyland Paris parks?

To keep costs down, stick to the quick-service counters rated €. Casey’s Corner serves hot dogs on Main Street, Café Hyperion offers burgers and nuggets in Discoveryland, Colonel Hathi’s Pizza Outpost has pizza by the slice in Adventureland, and Cowboy Cookout Barbecue in Frontierland is still a good deal. Over at Disney Adventure World, Stark Factory and Super Diner remain affordable. Tip: Mobile Order in the app also lets you order at some counters without waiting in line. And for a little snack, a waffle, churros, or ice cream for €5-10 hits the spot.

02 Do Disney restaurants have kids’ menus?

Yes, nearly every Disneyland Paris restaurant has a child price (ages 3-11). At the all-you-can-eat buffets, kids pay about half price: €25 at Agrabah Café, €25 at Cape Cod, €20 at La Cantina. Classic table-service restaurants also have a kids’ menu with a kid-friendly appetizer, main course, and dessert. At the quick-service counters, you’ll find kids’ menus that include a drink and a dessert. You can ask for a high chair when you book, using the "special request" field.

03 Are there vegetarian and vegan options at Disneyland Paris restaurants?

Yes, a growing number of Disneyland Paris restaurants have vegetarian and vegan choices. In Frontierland, Lucky Nugget Saloon offers an entirely vegan menu, and over in Fantasyland, Toad Hall Restaurant serves breaded plant-based crispy bites that are very good. Most of the other table-service restaurants and buffets list at least one vegetarian dish. Simple buffets such as Agrabah Café or Cape Cod have meatless options too. For the full picture, get my free file by email, which gathers the menus of every Disneyland Paris restaurant: you can check the veggie options ahead of your visit.

04 Where should you go for an afternoon treat or a small bite in the parks?

The parks are packed with kiosks and snack stands for when hunger strikes. On the sweet side, there’s Cookie Kitchen on Main Street U.S.A., March Hare Refreshments in Fantasyland, waffle and churro stands all over, and roaming popcorn and ice cream carts. On the savory side, the hot dogs at Casey’s Corner. Plan on €5-10 per snack. Quick tip: some stands sell reusable collectible popcorn buckets that make fun souvenirs and get you discounted refills all day long.

05 What is Mobile Order at Disneyland Paris restaurants, and where can I use it?

Mobile Order lets you order your meal ahead in the official Disneyland Paris mobile app and pick it up at the time you choose, without waiting in line. You sign in to the app, pick the restaurant and the time slot, choose your dishes, pay online (your annual pass discount code works), and get your pickup voucher by email. The 8 participating restaurants are: Au Chalet de la Marionnette (Fantasyland), Café Hyperion (Discoveryland), Casa de Coco (Frontierland), Casey’s Corner (Main Street), Cowboy Cookout Barbecue (Frontierland), Hakuna Matata (Adventureland), Last Chance Cafe (Frontierland), and The Hollywood Gardens Restaurant (World Premiere in Disney Adventure World). The service is free, but you can only order for the same day.
