The best photo spots in Disneyland Park
Disneyland Park has the most photogenic settings in the whole resort, starting with the castle. Here are the shots I love most, from the classic to the little-known.
Around the castle
- From the Main Street bandstand Right at the park entrance, under the Town Square gazebo: you get the full sweep of Main Street with the castle far in the background.
- Right below the castle, left-hand side Next to the entrance of La Tanière du Dragon, for a close-up, dramatic shot.
- Beside the wishing well on the castle’s right More intimate, with the well up front in your shot.
- Beneath the arcades on the castle’s right-hand side The arcades frame your picture beautifully.
- The path behind the castle, on the Adventureland side Much quieter, and it gives you a different view of the castle.
- The rose garden A romantic spot full of flowers, perfect for couples.
Fantasyland
- The right side of Toad Hall Looking toward Alice’s castle, in the middle of Alice’s Curious Labyrinth.
- At the top of Alice’s castle Make your way up through Alice’s maze to its highest point, and you’ll look straight down on Fantasyland.
Adventureland
Head to Adventureland and stand facing Skull Rock and the pirate ship. The scenery is spectacular and looks great on camera, especially late in the day.
Photo spots in Disney Adventure World
- Worlds of Pixar, Toy Story area The backdrops at the far end, toward Cars Road Trip, are gorgeous. And don’t forget Rex, standing in front of RC Racer.
- The Walt statue As you come out of the World Premiere Theater, a classic shot near the park entrance.
Colorful walls for your Instagram
Disneyland Paris is packed with photogenic walls, perfect for a bright portrait. In Disneyland Park, look for the harlequin wall between Fantasyland and Discoveryland, the pink wall in Fantasyland, and the colorful walls of Discoveryland (stars, turquoise, and purple near Buzz Lightyear). In Disney Adventure World, find the brick wall over by Cars and the letter wall in Toy Story Playland.
Photo spots in Disney Village
The LEGO Store
Kids love the front of the LEGO Store as a photo spot: big LEGO brick sculptures stand outside and inside the store, including a replica of Sleeping Beauty Castle and several Disney and Pixar characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Buzz, Woody, Peter Pan…). It’s free and you don’t need a park ticket, so it’s ideal on your way in or out.
The view from above: Panoramagique
For a picture nobody else has, take a ride on Panoramagique, the tethered balloon on Lake Disney in Disney Village. From about a hundred meters up, you look down over the entire resort: an aerial view like no other, with no crowds.
My tip for taking pictures without the crowds
Get professional keepsakes: Disney PhotoPass
Want photos without holding your phone? Disney PhotoPass photographers are stationed at the best spots, especially in front of the castle, and sometimes add special effects. I go into all the details in my PhotoPass and Magic Shots guides.
Frequently asked questions
01 What’s the best spot to photograph the Disneyland Paris castle?
For the most striking angle, stand at the Main Street bandstand and frame the castle in the distance. If you want it up close, go to the base of the castle by La Tanière du Dragon, or to the right near the wishing well. To get away from the crowds, try the path behind the castle, toward Adventureland.
02 How do I take great photos at Disneyland Paris without crowds?
Staying at a Disney hotel? Use Extra Magic Time, the early entry for hotel guests, when the park is almost deserted. If not, go right at park opening in the morning, or wait for late afternoon and its soft light.
03 Where are the colorful (Instagram) walls at Disneyland Paris?
In Disneyland Park, the walls to look for are the harlequin one between Fantasyland and Discoveryland, the pink one in Fantasyland, and the bright walls around Discoveryland. In Disney Adventure World, find the brick wall by the Cars area and the wall of letters in Toy Story Playland.
