The best photo spots in Disneyland Park
Disneyland Park has the most photogenic settings in the resort, starting with the castle. Here are my favourite shots, from the classics to the lesser-known spots.
Around the castle
- From the Main Street bandstand At the park entrance, under the Town Square gazebo: you frame the whole length of Main Street with the castle in the distance.
- At the foot of the castle, on the left Near the entrance to La Tanière du Dragon, for a close-up, theatrical shot.
- To the right of the castle, at the wishing well A more intimate setting, with the well in the foreground.
- Under the arches, to the right of the castle The arcades frame the photo beautifully.
- The passage behind the castle, on the Adventureland side Much quieter, for a different view of the castle.
- The rose garden A romantic setting full of flowers, ideal for couples.
Fantasyland
- The right-hand side of Toad Hall With a view of Alice’s castle, in the middle of Alice’s Curious Labyrinth.
- At the top of Alice’s castle Climb to the top of Alice’s Curious Labyrinth for a view looking down over Fantasyland.
Adventureland
In Adventureland, stand facing Skull Rock and the pirate ship. The setting is spectacular and looks especially good in photos, above all at the end of the day.
Photo spots in Disney Adventure World
- Worlds of Pixar, Toy Story area The scenery at the back, towards Cars Road Trip, is superb. And don’t forget Rex, standing in front of RC Racer.
- The Walt statue At the exit of the World Premiere Theater, a classic at the park entrance.
Colourful walls for Instagram
Disneyland Paris is full of photogenic walls, perfect for a colourful portrait. In Disneyland Park, look for the harlequin wall between Fantasyland and Discoveryland, the pink wall in Fantasyland and the colourful walls of Discoveryland (stars, turquoise, purple near Buzz Lightyear). In Disney Adventure World, look out for the brick wall near Cars and the letter wall in Toy Story Playland.
Photo spots in Disney Village
The LEGO Store
The front of the LEGO Store is a photo spot children love: large LEGO brick sculptures stand outside and inside the shop, including a replica of Sleeping Beauty Castle and several Disney and Pixar characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Peter Pan…). It’s free and open without a park ticket, ideal when you arrive or leave.
The view from above: the Panoramagique
For a photo nobody else has, go up in the Panoramagique, the tethered balloon on Lake Disney, in Disney Village. At around a hundred metres up, you look down over the whole resort: a rare aerial view with no crowds.
My tip for taking photos without the crowds
A professional keepsake: Disney PhotoPass
Want photos without having to hold your phone? Disney PhotoPass photographers are stationed at the best spots, especially in front of the castle, and sometimes add special effects. I cover everything in my guides to PhotoPass and Magic Shots.
Frequently asked questions
01 Where’s the best place to photograph the castle at Disneyland Paris?
The bandstand on Main Street gives the best view, with the castle in the distance. For a close-up, stand at the foot of the castle on the La Tanière du Dragon side, or on the right near the wishing well. And to avoid the crowds, try the passage behind the castle, on the Adventureland side.
02 How can I take great photos at Disneyland Paris without the crowds?
If you’re staying at a Disney hotel, make the most of Extra Magic Time, the early opening reserved for hotel guests: the park is almost empty. Otherwise, aim for park opening in the morning, or the end of the day for soft light.
03 Where are the colourful (Instagram) walls at Disneyland Paris?
At Disneyland Park, look for the harlequin wall between Fantasyland and Discoveryland, the pink wall in Fantasyland and the colourful walls of Discoveryland. At Disney Adventure World, look for the brick wall near Cars and the letter wall in Toy Story Playland.
