The lost places of Disney Village: what closed or changed

A nightclub, pedalos, a film-themed restaurant, an arcade: here are the places in Disney Village that have disappeared or made way for something else, from the oldest to the most recent.

Disney Village has changed a lot. Several places that regulars knew well have closed or made way for something else.

Here are the ones that have gone: the Hurricanes nightclub, the boating activities on Lake Disney, the Planet Hollywood restaurant, the La Tête dans les Nuages arcade, the former The Disney Gallery shop and the New York Style Sandwiches sandwich bar.

This article covers what no longer exists. For today’s Disney Village, with its current shops and restaurants, head here: my Disney Village guide.

The former arcade became the Pelé Soccer football shop, which opened on 22 May 2026.

The Hurricanes nightclub

What it was. The only real nightclub in Disney Village, from 1992 to 2010. A Key West-style Florida setting, concerts, entertainment and music until the early hours. When it closed, it was one of the last Disney clubs still open anywhere in the world.

When. It opened with the park in 1992 and livened up the evenings for almost eighteen years, before closing in 2010.

Why it went. Attendance was falling. Fridays and Saturdays stayed lively, but on weekdays the dance floor was almost empty. Disneyland Paris also refocused the resort on families. The last night was Sunday 14 March 2010. The 11 staff were moved to other jobs elsewhere in the resort.

Today. A few traces of the decor can still be seen in the Village, if you know where to look.

The boating activities on Lake Disney (the Marina)

What it was. The Marina, the starting point for trips on Lake Disney. You could hire pedalos, electric boats and the famous "Love Boat". It was at the far end of the Village, right next to the PanoraMagique balloon.

When you could go. Saturdays, Sundays, French school holidays and French bank holidays, from 15:00, weather permitting. Life jackets were compulsory.

The prices back then. The activity no longer exists, but here’s what you paid at the time:

ActivityPrice at the time
Pedalo€10
Electric boat€20
Love Boat€30

Prices at the time for the boating activities

Why it went. The Marina closed as part of the Village’s changes. You can no longer go out on Lake Disney.

Today. There are no boating activities on site any more. The PanoraMagique, however, is still there and takes you up high above the Village.

Planet Hollywood

What it was. A large film-themed restaurant. A globe-shaped facade, neon lights, film costumes and props inside. The menu ranged from burgers to pasta, in a Hollywood atmosphere. Its opening was meant to boost dining in the Village, win over local customers and lengthen stays, at a time when Disneyland Paris had been going through financial difficulties since opening in 1992.

When. The chain had first set up in North America, including at Walt Disney World (Disney Springs, then called Disney Village Marketplace) in 1994. The Paris restaurant arrived two years later. It opened in July 1996. Its opening ceremony on 22 November 1996 is still remembered, with Sylvester Stallone and Gérard Depardieu parading in a cherry-coloured convertible.

Why it went. The restaurant closed for good on 7 January 2023, after more than 26 years. I was lucky enough to eat there on the very last day: a lot of nostalgia that day, and I left with the collector’s glass offered for the occasion.

Today. The space was closed and then redeveloped. It is due to house an Italian restaurant, Casa Giulia, which hasn’t opened yet. The details of today’s Village are in my Disney Village guide.

La Tête dans les Nuages, the former arcade

What it was. A large arcade and games hall in the Village, which regulars called La Tête dans les Nuages. Families and teens knew it well.

When it went. The space changed purpose as part of the Village’s redevelopment. It was even used for a while as a temporary LEGO shop.

Why. The space was taken over for new brands, as part of the Village’s ongoing transformation.

Today. In its place is Pelé Soccer, a football shop (official shirts and accessories), which opened on 22 May 2026. It is billed as the brand’s first in Europe.

What it was. A Disney Village shop focused on art, decor and collectibles.

When it went. It closed as part of the major redevelopment of the Village’s shops.

Today. In its place you’ll now find Disney Style (clothing) and Disney Glamour (jewellery and accessories), which opened on 8 March 2025. If you’re after the same decor and homeware feel as The Disney Gallery, the shop that comes closest product-wise today is Deco by Disney (it’s located elsewhere in the Village).

New York Style Sandwiches

What it was. A New York-themed sandwich bar: sandwiches, hot dogs and American pastries, to take away or eat on the go. It lasted around twenty years in the Village. When it opened in 1992, it was called Carnegie’s Deli, before being renamed New York Style Sandwiches in 1999.

When it went. It closed on 1 December 2024.

Why. Its space wasn’t replaced by a new outlet. It was absorbed into the neighbouring Sports Bar, which had been in the Village since 1992. The Sports Bar was renovated and extended into this space.

Today. The whole thing reopened as the Sports Bar & Lounge in November 2025. You’ll find it in my guide to eating well in Disney Village.

Why has the Village changed so much?

Two shifts explain these closures. First, the move towards a more family-oriented audience, which cost the nightclub its place as early as 2010. Then, the major Village transformation project launched in recent years, which reshaped restaurants and shops between 2023 and 2026. Between 2010 and 2023, the Village actually changed very little.

The result: today’s Village no longer quite looks like the one from the 2000s.
