Want to cool off for a while, or catch a movie in the evening after the park? Disney Village is home to a big movie theater, the Gaumont Disney Village, and anyone can walk in: it works like any other multiplex, no park ticket needed. Below I cover the practical details (number of screens, showtimes, prices) along with my tips to make the most of it.

Gaumont Disney Village by the numbers

The Disney Village movie theater opened in 1997 with eight screens. An expansion in 2002 brought it up to 15 screens, and its IMAX auditorium followed in 2004.

This multiplex is located in Disney Village, right by the Disneyland Paris parks. It shows movies in large formats such as IMAX and 4DX.

For now it goes by Gaumont Disney Village. It will soon take the name Pathé Disney Village, to match the Pathé chain of movie theaters across France.

IMAX, 4DX, or a standard screen?

Disney Village offers three kinds of auditoriums side by side. Here’s how to pick one based on what you’re after.

IMAX screenA giant screen that fills much of your field of view, with a very sharp picture and surround soundBlockbusters and big movies made for the big screen€20.90

What is the IMAX auditorium?

An IMAX auditorium pairs a giant screen, which takes up much of your field of vision, with high-definition projection and sound that surrounds you from every side of the room.

France still has only a handful of IMAX screens this size. I’d encourage you to try it at least once: for a big movie, it’s my favorite format.

What is the 4DX auditorium?

A 4DX auditorium adds special effects to the movie: the seats move, vibrate, and tilt, and you also get wind, water, smoke, scents, and flashes of light. Movies shown in 4DX are often in 3D as well.

So you need to be comfortable with the motion, the effects, and the 3D all at once. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re prone to motion sickness.

Showtimes and getting there

The theater usually runs showings from 10:30 in the morning until 22:30 at night. Times change depending on what’s playing and the season.

To get there, just head to Disney Village, an area that’s free and open to everyone. The theater is right next to the World of Disney store. You can park in the Disneyland Paris visitor parking lot or in the Indigo parking garage at Disney Village.

The nice thing about the Village is how easy it is to combine plans: dinner at Disney Village before your movie, or a ride on PanoraMagique, the balloon that rises above the Village, right after it ends.

What’s playing and original-language movies

The Disney Village movie theater has two advantages over many other theaters.

A wider lineup. On top of the nationwide releases, it offers special screenings, advance screenings, and, at certain times of year, Disney classics shown again for special events.

Original-language showings. Most movies are shown dubbed in French (marked VF). But some blockbusters, especially Disney and Marvel releases, regularly play in VOSTFR (the original version with French subtitles). Handy if you’re visiting from abroad or would rather watch the movie in English.

My tips for your movie

  • Book online. You pick your seat ahead of time and skip the wait. Tickets can usually be canceled for free up to 15 minutes before the movie.
  • With a child. Booster seats are usually available at the entrance to each auditorium, so little ones are comfortable and can see the screen.
  • As a couple. Some auditoriums have two-person "sofa" seating, so you can enjoy the movie side by side.
  • Plan your arrival. Show up a few minutes early, especially on weekends and during school breaks. Several movies can start at the same time. Since the theater is inside the Village, also allow 5 to 10 minutes for the security check at the entrance.
  • Save on snacks. Popcorn + drink combos are often a better deal than buying each item separately. Also scan your Pathé/Gaumont loyalty account in the app to rack up perks.
  • In the auditorium. Put your phone and smartwatch on silent and dim your screen so you don’t bother other moviegoers.
  • Check the format. Make sure you know the projection type (2D, 3D, IMAX, 4DX, VOSTFR) so there are no surprises on the day.
