Before you set off for Disneyland Paris, it’s worth knowing what you can bring. The park rules ban certain items (selfie sticks, alcohol brought from outside, drones, weapons, oversized items) and certain behaviours (smoking outside the dedicated areas, fancy dress for adults, walking on the lawns, using flash on rides).
Since March 2026, professional-style photo and sound equipment has also been restricted. Here’s the up-to-date detail, so you can pack your bag without any nasty surprises at security.
Banned items at Disneyland Paris
Several items are refused at the security check, for everyone’s safety and comfort. Here are the main ones.
| Item | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Selfie sticks | Banned | A risk on rides and a nuisance for other visitors. |
| Alcohol brought from outside | Banned | Only licensed restaurants serve it. |
| Glass bottles and containers | Banned | Bring a reusable plastic water bottle instead. |
| Flying drones | Banned | Flying over the parks is forbidden (safety). |
| Weapons and dangerous items | Banned | Knives, sharp objects, imitation weapons. |
| Bulky items | Banned | Suitcases, large luggage, rigid cool boxes. Bag size is limited (see your bag). |
| Roller skates, bikes, scooters, skateboards | Banned | Personal means of transport aren’t allowed. |
| Noisy items | Banned | Vuvuzelas, horns, loudhailers and megaphones. |
| Professional photo and sound equipment | Restricted | Above a certain size. See the 2026 rule below. |
Items refused at the park entrances
Suitcases and large bags over a certain size aren’t allowed in, and luggage storage is available near the entrance for your bulky belongings. I go through the allowed size, the security checks and luggage storage in my guide to what to pack in your bag. Cold food and reusable water bottles are still allowed (see below).
What camera gear is allowed at Disneyland Paris?
The park rules were updated in March 2026. They target professional or semi-professional photo and video equipment. The following are now banned:
- Telescopic poles, tripods, monopods and extension devices longer than 20 cm when extended
- Professional lenses longer than 135 mm
- Lighting equipment
- Professional microphones
- Any filming equipment for commercial or journalistic purposes
Are animals allowed?
No. Animals aren’t allowed in the parks, except guide dogs and assistance dogs, which must be kept on a lead or in a harness, with supporting documents shown at the entrance. If you’re travelling with your pet, there’s a pet care service near the parks.
More details in my guide to bringing your dog.
Banned behaviour
The rules also cover certain behaviours, for the safety and comfort of all visitors.
Smoking outside the dedicated areas
Smoking is banned in the parks, except in the areas set aside for it. I show you where they are in my guide to the smoking areas.
Fancy dress for adults and over-12s
Fancy dress is banned for adults and anyone over 12, except during specific events. Disney Bound is still allowed all year round. I go through the costume rules in my guide to dressing up at Disneyland Paris.
Walking on the lawns and flower beds
You’re not allowed to walk on the lawns and flower beds or climb on the scenery. These areas are carefully maintained and aren’t designed to be trampled.
Using flash on rides
Flash is banned on rides, especially those that take place in the dark, and during the night-time show. It bothers other visitors and can be a safety issue.
Carrying a child on your shoulders
During parades and shows, you’re asked not to carry a child on your shoulders, as it blocks the view for the visitors behind you. Most shows take place up high and can be seen from a distance: stepping back a little is often enough.
Can you bring your own food?
Yes, you can bring your own cold food (sandwiches, salads, fruit, snacks, reusable water bottle) and it isn’t confiscated at security. Alcohol, glass bottles, large rigid cool boxes and knives aren’t allowed. I go through what you can bring in my guide to having a picnic at Disneyland Paris.

Bag searches and penalties
Bags are searched at the security check at the park entrances. If you have a banned item, security may not let it through: you’ll then have to put it in luggage storage or leave it behind. The park doesn’t keep the items concerned. If you break the rules, you can be refused entry and may be asked to leave. See my guide to luggage storage.
The official park rules
These rules are based on the park’s reference document, which is updated regularly. If in doubt before your visit, check the Disneyland Paris park rules (in French).

Frequently asked questions
01 Can you bring your own food and a picnic to Disneyland Paris?
Yes. Your own cold food is allowed (sandwiches, snacks, fruit, cakes, water bottle) in a rucksack or a small soft cool bag, and there’s a picnic area between Disney Village and the car parks. Not allowed: alcohol, glass containers, knives and large rigid cool boxes. I always pop a water bottle and some biscuits in my bag. It heads off energy slumps and queues at the counter, and it keeps the bill down.
02 Is alcohol banned at Disneyland Paris?
Yes, you can’t bring alcohol in from outside. Only licensed restaurants serve it in the park.
03 Are selfie sticks and tripods allowed?
No. Selfie sticks, tripods, monopods and stabilisers longer than 20 cm when extended are banned throughout the Disney area, as are professional lenses over 135 mm. Everyday equipment (phone, compact camera) is still allowed.
04 Can you wear a costume at Disneyland Paris?
Yes for children under 12, all year round. From age 12, only on special days, such as 31 October for Halloween or Star Wars Day on 4 May. Costumes are also allowed at some Disneyland Pass evenings. Disney Bound is allowed all year round.
05 Are bags checked at the entrance to Disneyland Paris?
Yes, every bag is checked at the park entrances: opened and inspected, often with a walk through a metal detector. It’s a bit like airport security. A banned item may be refused, in which case you’ll have to leave it in luggage storage or leave it behind. Arrive a little early to keep the wait down.
06 Can you bring your pet, and what can you do with your dog?
Pets are not allowed in the parks or the Disney hotels, except at the Davy Crockett Ranch, which accepts dogs in some bungalows, apart from guide and assistance dogs with proof. For other pets, a kennel near the parks will look after your animal for the day while you visit.
