At a glance
The Disney Sequoia Lodge is a 3-star Disney hotel with 1011 rooms of 22 m² and 14 suites of 55 m², spread across a main building and several wood and stone lodges. It sits in the mid-range and suits families as well as visitors looking for a relaxing setting.
The design is inspired by the lodges of the great national parks of the American West, with raw materials, a central fireplace in the bar and rustic furniture. The rooms feature Disney’s forest films such as Bambi through wall friezes, pictures and illustrated bedspreads. A refurbishment planned throughout 2026 will update the rooms and expand the forest theme with Brother Bear and Pocahontas, and the hotel stays open during the work.
What sets this Disney hotel apart is its cosy atmosphere and its heated indoor and outdoor pool area, the only pool near the park with a slide, plus a hot tub, a sauna and a steam room. The Sequoia Lodge is the quietest of the Disney hotels with a pool, ideal for visitors who want to unwind after a long day in the parks.
For food, the hotel has Hunter’s Grill (an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant with 365 seats, open in the morning and evening), Beaver Creek Tavern (also used for breakfast) and the Redwood Bar and Lounge, with a pool table, table football and a lake-view terrace. A half-board plan is available, and guests get Extra Magic Time, free luggage storage, a Northwest Passage shop and a free shuttle bus to the parks.
Cosy lodge and fireplace. The Redwood Bar is home to a huge open stone fireplace, perfect for warming up with a cocktail in winter. The hotel is surrounded by hundreds of imported sequoias that recreate the feel of America’s national parks. Golden Forest rooms come with a private reception and a sweet afternoon snack included.
History
Opened on 27 May 1992, shortly after the park opened, the Disney Sequoia Lodge recalls the great lodges of America’s national parks. It was designed by Antoine Grumbach, the only non-American architect of the resort’s hotels.
After a facade renovation carried out in phases from 2020 to 2022, the hotel began a major refurbishment in early 2026, with new rooms celebrating Bambi, Pocahontas and Brave.

Who it’s for
Pros and cons
Strong points
- Pool with a slide and a waterfall
- Cosy forest atmosphere, perfect for unwinding
- Prices between the premium and budget Disney hotels
Weak points
- Refurbishment under way throughout 2026, which may affect your stay, and only one on-site restaurant (a buffet)
- Outdoor pool closed in winter
- Soundproofing in the rooms sometimes lacking
My verdict
The Sequoia Lodge has a warm, very well done forest atmosphere that makes it the most restful of the hotels around the lake. It’s the perfect place to escape the buzz of the parks while staying a fifteen-minute walk away along the lake.
I’ve stayed there 2 times, most recently in 2025, and I have a soft spot for its huge central fireplace in winter. Watch out, though: the hotel is undergoing a full refurbishment throughout 2026, updating the rooms with themes from films like Pocahontas, which may cause some disruption. The pool and its slide remain a big plus for kids, although the soundproofing in the rooms could sometimes be better.
I recommend the Golden Forest Club for a cosy stay in autumn or winter. Avoid it during this year’s work if you need complete peace and quiet during the day.

Your questions about this hotel
01 Which hotel should I choose if I love nature and peace and quiet?
Davy Crockett Ranch is the nature and peace-and-quiet option: bungalows tucked away in a forest, away from the parks (only reachable by car). It has the biggest pool in the resort, with a slide and waterfalls, in a rustic setting. The Sequoia Lodge is a good compromise if you want the forest atmosphere without a car, 15 minutes on foot from the parks.
02 Which Disney hotels have a pool?
5 of the 7 official Disney hotels have a pool: the Disneyland Hotel (indoor pool only, with hot tub, steam room and sauna), the Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel (indoor and outdoor), the Newport Bay Club (indoor and outdoor with a large pool), the Sequoia Lodge (indoor and outdoor) and the Davy Crockett Ranch (indoor, the largest in the resort, with a slide). The Hotel Cheyenne and the Hotel Santa Fe don’t have a pool.
03 Which Disney hotel offers the best value for money?
For me, the Hotel Cheyenne offers the best value for money: an immersive Wild West atmosphere at an affordable price, ideal for families. The Newport Bay Club comes a close second, with its large pool and comfortable rooms at a reasonable price for what you get. It all depends on your priorities (theme, pool, distance), but the Cheyenne is still my favourite when you’re watching your budget.
04 Is breakfast included at the Disney hotels?
It depends on the package you book: some "breakfast included" or "half board" stays include breakfast, while others charge it as an extra. At the Disneyland Hotel’s Castle Club, however, the royal breakfast with princesses in the private lounge is always included. I always check the package when I book, to avoid any surprises.
05 What are the themes of the Disney hotels?
Each Disney hotel has its own world: the Disneyland Hotel has a princess and royal theme, Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel celebrates the Marvel superheroes through works of art, the Newport Bay Club recalls nautical New England, the Sequoia Lodge takes you into the forest in the style of Bambi, Disney Hotel Cheyenne recreates a Wild West town with its saloon, Disney Hotel Santa Fe draws on Cars and Route 66, and the Davy Crockett Ranch offers mobile homes deep in the woods.
