Renting a car at Disneyland Paris: the Avis partnership and discounts

Want to explore the region beyond the parks, or would you rather drive than take public transportation? Disneyland Paris has an official car rental partner, Avis, with a branch at Chessy station and discounts based on your ticket or Pass. Here’s how to book and, more importantly, whether you actually need one.

Renting a car isn’t a must for a Disneyland Paris visit: few resorts in Europe have such good train links (see how to get to Disneyland Paris). Having wheels pays off in one particular situation: you want to get out of the area while you’re there (other places near Paris, Val d’Europe, side trips), or you like moving around on your own schedule instead of relying on buses and trains.

So before reserving, think about two things: the length of your stay and what you’d like to do beyond the park.

Avis, the official rental partner

Disneyland Paris picked Avis as its official partner for car rentals. It’s a well-known brand with a wide range of vehicles, which makes it an easy default if you want to rent without comparing ten companies. Above all, the partnership gives you perks reserved for park guests, covered below.

How do booking and pickup work?

There are two ways to book: online on the Avis website, or directly at the dedicated branch. Avis has a branch at Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy station, the park’s train station, a few minutes’ walk from the parks and hotels. You can pick up and return the car right there, with no detour to an airport or into Paris.

Discounts for each type of guest

The partnership comes with perks that depend on your situation.

Avis perks by guest type

Do you really need a rental car?

A car is useful if…

  • You’re planning outings beyond the Disney area during your trip
  • You’re driving in from far away and staying several days in the region
  • There are lots of you, with plenty of bags to carry
  • You’d rather set your own pace than follow transit schedules

A car is unnecessary if…

  • You’re only coming for the Disney parks
  • You’re staying at a Disney hotel with a shuttle
  • You fly or take the train in and have no side trips in mind
  • You want to avoid parking and gas costs

Frequently asked questions

01 Is there a discount with a Disney ticket or hotel stay?

Yes. Guests with a park ticket and those staying at a Disney hotel get a discount on their Avis rental. The exact amount is confirmed when you book.

02 What perks do Disneyland Pass holders get?

Disneyland Pass holders get membership in the Avis Preferred program (faster rentals) plus a free upgrade on their vehicle.

03 Can I park at Disneyland Paris with a rental car?

Yes. Rental cars park just like any other vehicle, in the visitor parking lot of the resort, which charges a fee. The terms that apply after that depend on your own situation.

04 Is a car necessary to get to Disneyland Paris?

No. The park is very easy to reach: the RER A (Paris commuter train) stops at the entrance, trains run from the airports, and the Disney hotels offer free shuttles. A car is mostly useful for exploring the area or if you’re staying farther away.
