No, you can’t smoke wherever you like at Disneyland Paris. Smoking has been banned in both parks since 2008, e-cigarettes included. The only spots where it’s allowed are the designated smoking areas, tucked away inside the parks in quieter corners.
Across the rest of the resort (Disney Village, the area around the station, the outdoor spaces at the hotels), there’s no specific ban. On top of that, a French law that took effect on July 1, 2025, tightened the rules in certain outdoor public places.
Can you smoke in the parks?
No. Disneyland Paris has banned smoking throughout both of its parks since 2008. The rule comes from Disney’s own park regulations, not from French law.
It applies to regular cigarettes and e-cigarettes alike. The stated goal is to keep the parks clean and cut down on secondhand smoke, especially around kids.
Where are the smoking areas?
Disneyland Paris has set up smoking areas inside the parks. Most of them sit in out-of-the-way corners, away from the crowds, and they usually have benches, shelters, and ashtrays. That means you don’t have to leave the park to take a break.
The easiest way to find them on the day is to check the map in the Disneyland Paris app or to ask a Cast Member.
At Disneyland Park
As of publication, Disneyland Park has fourteen smoking areas (one of them at the Disneyland Hotel), spread across the different lands. There are none on Main Street or in Central Plaza, the busiest parts of the park. Here’s a rough breakdown, which you should double-check on the official map the day you visit.
| Land | Number of areas |
|---|---|
| Discoveryland | 3 |
| Fantasyland | 2 |
| Adventureland | 4 |
| Frontierland | 4 |
| Disneyland Hotel | 1 |

At Disney Adventure World
The second park, formerly Walt Disney Studios Park and now Disney Adventure World, also has several smoking areas around it. Because this park keeps changing (makeovers and brand-new areas), I’d rather not lock in a number or an exact layout. Check the official map on-site or in the app on the day of your visit.
What about the rest of the resort?
Outside the two parks, the rules are more relaxed. In Disney Village, around the station (RER and parking lots), and in the outdoor spaces of the Disney hotels, there’s no specific ban on smoking or vaping as of publication.
Once you step indoors at a hotel, or into any of its covered or closed-in spaces, you can’t smoke or vape at all. To be considerate of everyone around you, move away from busy spots before you light up.
What changed with the July 1, 2025, law
A French law took effect on July 1, 2025 (following a decree issued in June 2025). It bans smoking tobacco in a number of outdoor public places where children spend time.
- Public parks and gardens
- Beaches while people are swimming
- Bus shelters
- The areas around schools and libraries
- The areas around swimming pools and sports facilities
Smoking in these places can get you a €135 fine.
E-cigarettes and vaping
Two different rules apply here, and it helps to keep them apart.
Inside the parks, Disney’s own regulations treat vapes exactly the same as tobacco cigarettes: both are off-limits.
The July 1, 2025, law, for its part, is about tobacco only and leaves vaping out. Extending it to e-cigarettes has been floated for the future, but as of publication nothing of the kind has been confirmed as being in effect.

Frequently asked questions
01 Can you vape at Disneyland Paris?
Not in the parks. Disney’s park rules treat e-cigarettes exactly like cigarettes, so both are banned. Outside the parks, though, vaping is fine in the resort’s open-air spaces, like Disney Village or the grounds around the hotels.
02 Can you smoke while waiting in line?
No. Every line sits within the parks, where smoking is banned. You’ll need to head to one of the designated smoking areas.
03 Is smoking allowed in Disney hotels or on a balcony?
Disney hotel rooms, along with any covered or enclosed hotel space, are smoke-free, and that includes vaping. Outdoors at the hotels, no specific rule banned it when this was published, but please keep your distance from other guests.
