At a glance
Disney Adventure World is the second park at Disneyland Paris, located in the Val d’Europe area of Marne-la-Vallée, in Seine-et-Marne.
The park opened on 16 March 2002 as Walt Disney Studios Park, ten years after Disneyland Park. It was renamed Disney Adventure World on 29 March 2026, when the World of Frozen land opened.
Plans for a second park go back to the mid-1990s. The first version, due in 1996 under the name Disney-MGM Studios Europe, was cancelled because of the financial crisis Euro Disney was going through. Work started again in 1997 on a smaller scale, with the park borrowing the concept of Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. When it opened in 2002, the park had only nine attractions on around 50 ha, half the size of Disneyland Park. French stuntman Rémy Julienne was among the first European designers to work on the project.
On 27 February 2018, at the Élysée Palace, Robert Iger announced a €2 billion investment in Disneyland Paris, including doubling the size of the park with three themed areas. With this expansion, the park now covers around 50 ha. Today it has 13 attractions, 19 restaurants and 11 shops.
The park is laid out around several lands. World Premiere Plaza is the entrance area, a redesign of Front Lot and Studio 1, home to the Place des Frères Lumière and its fountain of Mickey as the sorcerer’s apprentice. Adventure Way is an Art Nouveau style walkway leading to Adventure Bay, a man-made lake of almost 3 hectares. Worlds of Pixar, created in 2021 from Toon Studio, brings together the Pixar attractions, including Crush’s Coaster, Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, Cars Road Trip, Ratatouille : L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy and the Toy Story Playland area (RC Racer, Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin). Marvel Avengers Campus, which opened on 20 July 2022 in place of Backlot, offers Avengers Assemble: Flight Force (a makeover of Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster) and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure. World of Frozen, which opened on 29 March 2026, is inspired by Arendelle and features a mountain almost 40 metres high and Elsa’s castle.
The headline rides include The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which opened in 2007 in the Hollywood Boulevard area, with its lift drop from the 13th floor. The park also has several shows: Mickey and the Magician since 2016, TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure since summer 2023, Stitch Live and Minnie’s Dream Factory. The Disney Cascade of Lights night-time show has been performed every evening on Adventure Bay since 29 March 2026.
In 2023, it welcomed 5.7 million visitors, making it the third most visited park in Europe and the 20th in the world. A ride themed on Up and a future Lion King land are currently under construction.
The park is designed as a journey through the great Disney worlds, laid out around Adventure Bay lake, which now shapes how you get around. From the entrance through World Premiere Plaza, you move from one land to the next, each built around a franchise. The guiding idea of the park since its 2026 rebrand: inviting you to become an adventurer yourself, with every land offering a mission or a story to take part in, a complete break from the original concept of film studios watched from a distance.
Sustainability. The park takes care of its footprint: the large lake is fed by rainwater, the green spaces are watered with recycled water and managed by irrigation sensors, heat from the refrigeration units is used for hot water, and heating relies on a geothermal network and a heat pump that produces heating and cooling at the same time.
The second park, set around a large lake, with World of Frozen and plenty of high-quality indoor shows. Adventure Bay at the centre of the park, the new Frozen land opened in March 2026 and several acclaimed indoor shows such as Mickey and the Magician and TOGETHER. A park particularly rich in indoor shows.

History
Disneyland Paris’s second park opened on 16 March 2002 as Walt Disney Studios Park, themed around Hollywood film studios. Inspired by Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando (1989), it was meant to encourage longer stays at the resort by adding a second park in Marne-la-Vallée.
Criticised from day one for its small number of rides, the park was expanded in several waves: Crush’s Coaster and Cars Quatre Roues Rallye in 2007, Tower of Terror in December 2007, Toy Story Playland in 2010, then Ratatouille in 2014. In February 2018, Disneyland Paris announced a huge expansion plan with three new lands inspired by Frozen, Marvel and Star Wars.
The park was rebranded Disney Adventure World on 29 March 2026, with the opening of the new World of Frozen land around the Adventure Bay lake, alongside the growth of Marvel Avengers Campus (since 2022), Worlds of Pixar and Adventure Way (Tangled). This new direction is a complete break from the original studio theme.
Where the inspiration comes from
When it opened in 2002 as Walt Disney Studios, the park was based on Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando (1989). The new World of Frozen land, which opened in 2026, is the French version of the land of the same name at Hong Kong Disneyland (2023), while the redesign around a central lake is a little reminiscent of Tokyo DisneySea (2001).

My verdict
Disney Adventure World is a park I like more and more, even if I’m less emotionally attached to it than to Disneyland Park. It isn’t the first one I discovered, and it has changed a lot over time, which makes it a different park on every visit.
What I particularly love are its shows and its thrill rides, which make it a more dynamic park and a more intense experience. For a long time, I also struggled with its dining options, but they’re gradually improving with the new spaces and projects.
Above all, it’s a park looking to the future, with real ambition. With the arrival of World of Frozen, the Up projects and the future area for The Lion King, Disney Adventure World is in the middle of a major transformation and is becoming more and more essential at Disneyland Paris.
Julie’s tip
Best time to visit
If you’re spending several days at the resort, do Disney Adventure World on day 2, after discovering Disneyland Park. From day 3, you can move freely between the two parks as you please: you’ll know them well enough to find your way around easily. If you want to do both parks in a single day, plan to spend mid-afternoon and early evening here instead, and finish with the night-time show at the park of your choice.
Map & getting there
Disney Adventure World is less than 5 minutes’ walk from Disneyland Park, right between the Disneyland Hotel and Disney Village, and you’ll recognise it by its huge water tower topped with Mickey ears.
Your questions about this park
01 Which park should you choose for a one-day first visit?
For a first visit of just one day, I recommend Disneyland Park. With a 1-day 1-park ticket, it’s the most complete option: the castle, the parade and the big rides for all ages, in the original world dreamt up by Walt Disney.
02 Which park is best with young kids?
Disneyland Park. It has more rides designed for little ones, especially in Fantasyland, and an atmosphere that suits them well.
03 What is a 1-park dated ticket?
The 1-park dated ticket gives you access to a single park, either Disneyland Park or Disney Adventure World, on a set date. It’s often the simplest option when you only have one day and want to make the most of one world. I recommend it to first-time visitors who want to see Disneyland Park first, as that’s where you’ll find the castle and the iconic rides. The price varies depending on the date you choose and when you buy, and you can check it on the official Disneyland Paris website when booking.
04 What stage shows are on in 2026 at Disneyland Paris?
In 2026, 7 major stage shows are on: Mickey’s PhilharMagic, The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands, Animation Academy, Mickey and the Magician, Minnie’s Dream Factory, Stitch Live! and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure. They take place in air-conditioned theatres at Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World, with several performances a day.
05 What are the lands of Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park) after the transformation?
Disney Adventure World, which replaces the former Walt Disney Studios Park, is now organised into 6 lands. World Premiere Plaza (2 attractions) is home to Tower of Terror, Les Tapis Volants - Flying Carpets Over Agrabah and the World Premiere hub. Avengers Campus (2 attractions) brings together Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure. Worlds of Pixar (7 attractions) groups Crush’s Coaster, Ratatouille, RC Racer, Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, Cars ROAD TRIP, Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop. World of Frozen (only one ride for now), which opened on 29 March 2026, is home to Frozen Ever After. Adventure Way (1 attraction) has Raiponce Tangled Spin.
06 What is there to do at Disney Adventure World?
You’ll mainly find thrill rides and Marvel and Pixar worlds you won’t see at Disneyland Park, spread across several lands: World of Frozen, Avengers Campus, Worlds of Pixar, World Premiere Plaza, Adventure Way and, soon, The Lion King. Add several indoor shows and, in the evening, Disney Cascade of Lights on the Adventure Bay lake. For a detailed hour-by-hour plan, follow my guide to planning your day.
07 Is Disney Adventure World worth it?
Yes, as long as you know what you’re coming for. I give it 4 out of 5 stars: it’s the park for thrills and Marvel and Pixar worlds, with great indoor shows and a night-time show on the lake. On the downside, it still has fewer rides than Disneyland Park, no parade and a few areas under construction. For a one-day first visit, I’d recommend Disneyland Park instead. Disney Adventure World really comes into its own on a trip of 2 days or more.
08 How long do you need to visit Disney Adventure World?
Allow half a day to a full day: the park still has a limited number of rides, so you have time to see everything without rushing, shows included. On a trip of several days, ideally give it day 2, after discovering Disneyland Park, then move freely between the two parks from day 3.
09 What should you see first at Disney Adventure World?
Not to be missed: Frozen Ever After in the new World of Frozen, the two Avengers Campus rides (Avengers Assemble: Flight Force and Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure) and, for Pixar, Ratatouille and Crush’s Coaster. For big thrills, the Tower of Terror is still a safe bet. Save time for the shows Mickey and the Magician and TOGETHER too, and for Disney Cascade of Lights after dark. Plan ahead for the World of Frozen queue, which has been very popular since it opened.
