Disneyland Paris runs free treasure hunts, with nothing to book and included in your ticket. Two of them are long-term fixtures in Disneyland Park: the hunt for lost pirate items in Adventureland and the hunt for missing gold nuggets in Frontierland.
On top of that, depending on the season, there are event hunts in both parks, such as M&M’s during Halloween. In summer 2026, Disney Adventure World also ran a Pizza Planet truck hunt, which has now ended.
These are proper treasure trails to do as a family, at your own pace, around the parks. If you’re looking for a fun activity at no extra cost during your day, you’re in the right place.
One important point so you don’t get mixed up: these hunts take place in the parks. They have nothing to do with the Disney hotels’ Discovery Quest, which is the treasure hunt run in the resort’s hotels. I’ll come back to it further down.

Disneyland Paris treasure hunts at a glance
All these park treasure hunts are free and included in your entry ticket. No booking: you take part whenever you like during your day.
This table isn’t exhaustive. Disneyland Paris doesn’t always announce its treasure hunts. Some also last only a few days, which makes a complete, up-to-date list hard to keep. For me, that’s exactly what makes them charming: you stumble across them by surprise, just round a corner.

The Adventureland hunt (the lost pirate items)
Set up in summer 2025, on 23 August 2025 to be exact, this hunt is permanent. It’s inspired by the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and was created by the Walt Disney Imagineering Paris teams. The concept is reminiscent of the interactive game A Pirate’s Adventures: Treasures of the Seven Seas, which has been running at Magic Kingdom in Florida since 2013.
Here’s how it works. Characters from the ride have lost some objects, and it’s up to you to find them. Scrolls displayed at the cave entrances set you the challenge. Among the hidden objects, for example, there’s a bunch of keys lost by a dog that’s meant to be guarding the pirates locked up in the fort.
Where. The hunt takes place in the Adventure Isle caves, right next to Pirates of the Caribbean. With its tunnels, rope bridges and passageways, it’s the perfect setting for this kind of game.
How. Head to the cave entrance. There you’ll find the scrolls listing the eight items to track down as you explore the caves:
- a bunch of keys (the one the dog is guarding)
- a wooden leg
- a pirate’s tricorn hat
- a compass
- an accordion
- an anchor
- a knife
- a pair of shoes
It’s an observation game, open to all and free. There’s nothing to collect from a Cast Member (the name for Disneyland Paris staff): you read the scrolls and off you go. Note down your finds on your phone so you don’t miss anything.
The Frontierland hunt (the missing gold nuggets)
Running since May 2025, this hunt puts you in the shoes of a Wild West gold prospector. Sheriff Will Ketchum needs help: bandits have hidden 17 nuggets all over the town of Thunder Mesa, and they need finding.
The nuggets are hidden all over Frontierland, including on the building fronts, in the shops and in the restaurants. To complete the hunt, you need to spot at least 10 of the 17.
This hunt is new: check on the spot that it’s running on the day of your visit.
Ask a Cast Member in Frontierland for the entry flyer.
Go and explore Thunder Mesa to spot the hidden nuggets (don’t forget the shops and restaurants).
Mark at least 10 of the 17 nuggets on your flyer.
Show your completed flyer at the till in the Thunder Mesa Mercantile Building shop.
Collect your reward.
Seasonal hunts (such as M&M’s at Halloween)
As well as the two long-term hunts, the park runs others that come back with the Disney seasons. The best known is the M&M’s hunt during the Halloween season.
Here’s how it works: you pick up an entry card at the Boardwalk Candy Palace counter on Main Street U.S.A., then set off around the whole park looking for decorated doors hidden all over the place. You mark each door on the card with stickers, and a surprise is handed out at the Boardwalk Candy Palace once you’ve finished the quest.
Temporary treasure hunts
Alongside the seasons, the park also runs one-off hunts for the length of an event (a film release, a partnership). They last anything from a few weeks to a whole summer.
The Toy Story treasure hunt (summer 2026, now over)
From 17 June to 30 September 2026, Disney Adventure World hosted a hunt linked to the release of Toy Story 5. This edition is over. You had to find the 15 Pizza Planet trucks, each with its own decoration, scattered around the Worlds of Pixar land (themed area). The hunt was free and open to all.
The Lorcana treasure hunt (September 2026, now over)
From 4 to 20 September 2026, Disneyland Park hosted the Lorcana hunt, inspired by the Disney Lorcana card game. This edition is over. Six large illustrations were scattered around the park. Each one showed a character reimagined in the style of the game. Among them: Woody as "Jungle Guide", Tinker Bell as "Giant Fairy" and Aurora as "Dreaming Guardian". Powerline also appeared as the "World’s Greatest Rock Star".
It was simple. First you picked up a free booklet from the Guest Flow Cast Members at the park entrance (with a free booster pack). Each illustration you found was marked on the booklet’s map, with the sticker in the colour of its ink. Once you’d spotted all six, a Cast Member at The Storybook Store gave you the exclusive promo card Buzz Lightyear "Keep Your Cover".
The treasure hunt wasn’t the only Lorcana activity at the time. It was part of a wider event, with three exclusive cards, each earned through a different activity.
- The treasure hunt
- the six illustrations found in the park earned you the Buzz Lightyear card.
- The collection quest
- you had to open the free booster pack, then collect the four cards shown in the booklet. These cards varied from one booklet to another. You got them by trading with other players at the Illumineer’s Lounge (at the Chalet de la Marionnette), where dedicated terminals also made trading easier. Collecting all four cards earned you the Mickey Mouse "Champion" card.
- The gift with purchase
- spend €30 or more on Lorcana products at The Storybook Store and you got the Elsa "The Fifth Spirit" card free.
My tips
- Play fair: don’t look up the answers online, the fun is all in the searching.
- Don’t share the locations on social media, so other families keep the suspense.
- For the Frontierland hunt, only take part once: that’s the rule of the game, and it gives other families a chance.
- For Frontierland and the seasonal hunts, pick up the flyer or card early in the day: numbers may be limited.
- Plan to play between rides: these hunts go at your own pace, with no pressure.
- These hunts are new: if one appeals to you, check on the spot that it’s running on the day of your visit.

02 How do you take part in the Adventureland hunt?
Head for the entrance to the Adventure Isle caves, next to Pirates of the Caribbean. Scrolls displayed on site give you the list of objects to find as you explore the caverns. There’s nothing to pick up first: you set off searching straight away.
