Disneyland Paris attraction keys: the complete guide

Decorative crystal keys that you pay for, sold in limited editions and often for a single day. Here’s how to recognise Disneyland Paris attraction keys, what they cost and how to get hold of one, by booking or in store depending on the release.

What is a collectible key?

A Disney collector key (also called a collectible key) is a decorative crystal key, cut and engraved by Arribas, the official glassmaker of Disneyland Paris. It doesn’t open any door: it’s a decorative, collectable object. Disneyland Paris launched the collection in 2018, and a new design has come out regularly ever since.

Each key pays tribute to something in the park: a ride (Tower of Terror, Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom Manor, Space Mountain…), a hotel, a character or an event (the park’s 30th anniversary, Disney’s 100th anniversary…). Some keys even hide a tiny Mickey engraved at the end of the shaft, on top of the design cut into the crystal. Collectors love spotting that detail.

Each key comes in a presentation box, with a numbered certificate of authenticity. I collect several of them, and it’s the whole set (the key, the box, the hand-signed certificate) that makes it such a special object.

How much do they cost?

Each key has a fixed price, the same for everyone on the day of the sale. That price depends on the design: standard keys are the most affordable, and there are "Jumbo" versions (giant keys) that cost a lot more.

Prices have gone up over the years since the launch in 2018. For the exact price of each design, the best thing is to check the table further down: it’s kept up to date and lists every key with its release date, edition size and price.

Good to know: Disneyland Pass and Cast Member discounts don’t apply to collectible keys.

Limited editions and edition sizes

Each key is made in a limited quantity: that’s the edition size. Once the copies have sold, there’s no restock.

An interesting detail: the number of copies often matches an important year. It might be the year the ride opened, the year of the film or the year the park opened (1992), which comes up a lot. For example, a key limited to 1992 copies refers to the park’s opening year. It’s a nod that collectors appreciate.

As demand is high and edition sizes are deliberately small, the keys go quickly. That’s what makes them so sought after, but it’s also what makes buying one tricky.

How to buy a collector key

A key release is an event in its own right, often held on a single day, on a set date, in one specific shop. The location varies from one key to the next (The Storybook Store, the Walt Disney Studios Store, World of Disney… the shop depends on the key). It’s a race against the clock: stock is limited and there’s no restocking.

Lineberty: how does it work?

For a long time, buying a key meant booking in advance through the Lineberty app (a virtual queue system).

Disneyland Paris opened slots about 48 hours before the sale, usually with two booking sessions: one the day before at around 18:00, then a "last chance" session the next day at around 12:00. The Lineberty ticket gave you a time slot to come and buy the key on the day, often with a limit of 1 to 2 keys per ticket.

Step 1

Follow the official announcements

Keep an eye on the official Disneyland Paris channels (the app and social media). That’s where they announce the latest key, its release date, the shop selling it and how it will be sold (booking or direct sale).

Step 2

Get ready to book (if Lineberty is used)

When the sale goes through Lineberty, install the app in advance and sign up as soon as the slots open, about 48 hours before. Note the two usual times: the session the day before at around 18:00 and the "last chance" session the next day at around 12:00.

Step 3

Be quick when the slots open

Slots go very fast. Be ready before the announced time, with a stable connection. If the first session is full, try again at the next one.

Step 4

Turn up on the day

Go to the shop at your time slot (or early in the morning for a direct sale). Keep your original Lineberty ticket in the app: a screenshot isn’t accepted. The limit is usually 1 to 2 keys per person.
