At a glance
The Storybook Store takes up the west side of Town Square, backing onto City Hall and facing the bandstand. Its facade bears the date 1891, the year Walt’s grandfather, Kepple Elias Disney, died.
The two-story facade, built in forced perspective, shows off red brick trimmed with gray and blue moldings, ironwork lace, and wooden columns holding up the roof overhang above the sidewalk. The oil-lamp-shaped pediment stands for the light of knowledge, embodied inside by the books.
The interior recreates a small nineteenth-century American library: wood paneling, soft lighting, period brass chandeliers, and props the Imagineers brought back from the US. The decor takes its cue from the library in the musical The Music Man (1962). At the entrance, an Audio-Animatronic Tigger (an animated robotic figure) greets guests. Upstairs, a lineup of sculpted characters (Minnie, Clarabelle Cow, Chip ’n’ Dale, Goofy, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Donald) sits on the shelves of the large bookcase.
The selection includes books in several languages, stationery, posters, photo frames, board games, Lorcana cards, pins, and key chains, along with Disney PhotoPass+.
An Audio-Animatronic Tigger greets you at the library. An Audio-Animatronic Tigger welcomes guests at the entrance of this Victorian library, a holdover from the store’s beginnings in 1992. Duffy took his place from 2011 to 2018 before Tigger came back for good. Upstairs, a lineup of sculpted characters (Minnie, Donald, Chip ’n’ Dale, Goofy) dots the shelves, inspired by the 1962 movie The Music Man.
What you’ll find
History
It opened on April 12, 1992, along with the park. At the entrance, the Audio-Animatronic Tigger, who originally stamped guests’ books, was replaced in October 2011 by Duffy, the Disney bear, who got his own section. Once Duffy left, Tigger got his spot back, minus the stamp. Starting August 6, 2021, the space occasionally served as a pop-up store for annual passholders only, before going back to being a bookstore.

Pros and cons
The highlights
- Near the park entrance, ideal for last-minute purchases
- A selection of books available in several languages
- Victorian library decor preserved since 1992

The downsides
- Temporary conversions into a store for annual passholders only

- Small sales floor
My verdict
The most relaxing store on Town Square. This little Victorian library is incredibly charming: soft lighting, wood paneling, sculpted characters on the shelves… and an Audio-Animatronic Tigger to greet you at the door.
I come here for my Lorcana cards and for gorgeous Disney books. Children hardly ever walk out without a storybook.
Julie’s tip
Best time to go
Go at park opening or mid-afternoon, when the parade isn’t going by: you’ll have time to leaf through the books.

Your questions about this shop
01 Where can you buy Disney merchandise at Disneyland Paris?
There are four main places to shop: Disneyland Park (Main Street U.S.A. above all, plus every land), Disney Adventure World, Disney Village (open to everyone, no park ticket required), and, if you book an official Disney hotel, the shop inside your hotel. My dedicated article walks you through the main shops.
02 Is there a way to shop without lugging bags around all day?
Yes. The Shopping Service lets you have your purchases sent to a pickup point, so you can collect them later at the same shop, at another shop on your way out of the park, or even at your Disney hotel’s shop. The service is free in most shops (with a minimum purchase). Just ask the cast member at checkout.
03 What are the shop hours?
Shops inside the parks roughly follow park hours, often opening a little earlier on Main Street U.S.A. and closing a little later after the nighttime show. Disney Village shops have their own hours, usually running later into the evening. You’ll find the exact hours in the Disneyland Paris app.
04 Can you buy Disneyland Paris merchandise online?
There’s no official Disneyland Paris online store. To shop from home, you can use the Disney Store website (formerly shopDisney), which sells official Disney merchandise and sometimes a few items specific to Disneyland Paris. At the resort itself, you buy everything directly in the shops.
