At a glance
The Storybook Store takes up the west side of Town Square, backing onto City Hall and facing the bandstand. Its frontage bears the date 1891, the year Kepple Elias Disney, Walt’s grandfather, died.
The two-storey frontage, built in forced perspective, shows off red brick picked out with grey and blue mouldings, iron lacework and wooden columns holding up the roof overhang above the pavement. The oil lamp-shaped pediment symbolises the light of knowledge, represented inside by the books.
The interior recreates a small nineteenth-century American library: wood panelling, soft lighting, period brass chandeliers and props brought back from the US by the Imagineers. The decor is inspired by the library in the musical film The Music Man (1962). At the entrance, a Tigger Audio-Animatronic (an animated robotic character) welcomes visitors. Upstairs, a line of carved characters (Minnie, Clarabelle Cow, Chip ’n’ Dale, Goofy, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Donald) is arranged on the shelves of the big bookcase.
The range includes books in several languages, stationery, posters, photo frames, board games, Lorcana cards, pins and keyrings, plus the Disney PhotoPass+ service.

He was replaced by Duffy from 2011 to 2018 before coming back for good. What you’ll find
History
Opened on 12 April 1992 with the park. At the entrance, the Tigger Audio-Animatronic, which originally stamped visitors’ books, was replaced in October 2011 by Duffy the Disney Bear, who had his own section. After Duffy left, Tigger got his spot back, without the stamp. From 6 August 2021, the space was occasionally used as a pop-up shop for annual pass holders only, before going back to being a bookshop.

Who it’s for
Pros and cons
Strong points
- A spot at the park entrance, handy for last-minute shopping
- A selection of books available in several languages
- Victorian library decor preserved since 1992
- Carved Disney Characters visible on the upstairs shelves
- Usually less busy than the other Main Street shops
Weak points
- Temporarily turned into a shop for annual pass holders only
- Today’s Tigger Animatronic no longer has its original stamp
- Small shop floor
My verdict
The most relaxing shop on Town Square. This little Victorian library is full of charm: soft lighting, wood panelling, carved characters on the shelves… and Tigger as an Audio-Animatronic to welcome you at the entrance.
This is where I pick up Lorcana cards and beautiful Disney books. Children rarely leave without a book.
Julie’s tip
Best time to visit
Go at park opening or mid-afternoon, away from parade time: you’ll have time to browse the books.

Your questions about this shop
01 Where can you shop for Disney merchandise at Disneyland Paris?
You have four main options: the shops in Disneyland Park (mainly on Main Street U.S.A. and in each land), the shops in Disney Adventure World, the shops in Disney Village (no park ticket needed) and your hotel shop if you’re staying at an official Disney Hotel. I go through the main shops in my dedicated article.
02 Can you shop without carrying your bags all day?
Yes. The Shopping Service lets you have your purchases sent to a collection point, to pick up later in the shop, or as you leave the park in another shop, or even in the shop at your Disney Hotel. The service is free in most shops (above a minimum spend). Just ask the sales assistant when you pay.
03 What are the shops’ opening hours?
The shops in the parks roughly follow the parks’ opening hours, often opening a little earlier on Main Street U.S.A. and closing a little later after the night-time show. The Disney Village shops have their own opening hours, usually later into the evening. The exact times are in the Disneyland Paris app.
04 Can you order Disneyland Paris merchandise online?
There’s no official Disneyland Paris online shop. To buy from home, you can go to the Disney Store website (formerly shopDisney), which sells official Disney merchandise and sometimes a few Disneyland Paris-specific products. At the resort, you buy directly in the shops.
