To meet Darth Vader, head to Star Port in Discoveryland (Disneyland Park), right next to the Star Tours ride. One important point when planning your visit: all the Star Wars meet and greets take place in Disneyland Park, never in the second park. On a normal day, it’s mostly Darth Vader you’ll meet there, sometimes Chewbacca. The other characters (Rey, The Mandalorian, Grogu) depend on the current schedule.
Where and how to meet Darth Vader
Star Port: where to find it
Star Port is in Discoveryland, the futuristic land of Disneyland Park. The building sits right by the entrance to Star Tours, which makes it an easy landmark to find once you’re there. This is where you meet Darth Vader in person: a real meet and greet, with a photo and the chance to ask for an autograph.
This meet and greet runs all year round, not just during Star Wars events. When I go, it’s simple once you’re there: you wait for your turn, then you have a few moments face to face with the character for the photo.
The free virtual queue
Access to Star Port is usually via a virtual queue and it’s free: there’s no extra charge, it’s included in your park ticket. In practice: you open the Disneyland Paris app, book a time slot for Star Port, then come back at the time shown, without queuing in the meantime.
How it works in detail (how to book, when slots open, how many bookings you can hold at once) is explained in the virtual queue guide.

Which Star Wars characters can you meet?
At Star Port, on a normal day, Darth Vader is the one you’ll meet most often. Chewbacca may stand in for him from time to time.
The other Star Wars characters, such as Rey, aren’t permanent meet and greets: they mainly appear during special events, for example Star Wars Day around 4 May. The schedule changes from one day to the next, so nothing is guaranteed in advance for a particular character.
| Character | Location | Access | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Darth Vader | Star Port, Discoveryland | Virtual queue | All year round |
| Chewbacca | Star Port, Discoveryland | Virtual queue | Occasionally, as a stand-in |
| The Mandalorian and Grogu | Discoveryland | Regular queue on site | Star Wars Day (May) |
| Rey | Star Port, Discoveryland | Regular queue on site | Star Wars Day (May) |
Summary: location, access and timing for each character.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
The Mandalorian (Din Djarin) and Grogu mainly appear around Star Wars Day (every year in May), with a dedicated meet and greet area in Discoveryland and PhotoPass photographers, the park’s official photo service, on site. Good news for planning when they’re there: their meet and greet uses a regular queue, with no booking. You just turn up and wait for your turn, unlike at Star Port.
Worth knowing: their presence is tied to what’s happening at the time and isn’t guaranteed outside this period. It’s best to treat it as a special event appearance. Check the app on the day of your visit to see whether they’re scheduled.
Seeing Darth Vader and the Star Wars characters without meeting them
Meeting a character (close-up photo, autograph) isn’t the same as seeing them from a distance. There’s no permanent Star Wars parade and no permanent Star Wars character dinner at Disneyland Paris.
On the other hand, on Star Wars Day (every year around 4 May), the park puts on special moments such as an Imperial march with Stormtroopers and Darth Vader, as well as droid appearances. You can then see them march past, but these moments don’t replace a real meet and greet with a photo and an autograph. For that, Star Port is the place to go.
