At a glance
The Emporium is the largest shop in Disneyland Park, on the left-hand corner where Town Square meets the main thoroughfare of Main Street U.S.A.
Its architecture is modelled on the department stores of small American towns in the early twentieth century: a Victorian facade, striped awnings, balconies with flowers, lit shop windows and ornate ceilings. The facade bears the date 1892, exactly a hundred years before Euro Disney opened. Four separate entrances lead into the shop: one on the corner opposite New Century Notions - Flora’s Boutique, one on the central walkway towards Sleeping Beauty Castle, one through the Liberty Arcade and a last one near Dapper Dan’s Hair Cuts, opposite the entrance to Walt’s restaurant.
Inside, the space is punctuated by decorative columns, mosaic floors, stained glass and a glass dome held up by a gilded metal frame and decorated with the names and portraits of early twentieth-century inventors: Alexander Graham Bell, George Washington Carver, Robert Fulton, George Eastman, the Wright brothers, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla. Hidden Mickeys (concealed Mickey silhouettes) are tucked into the railing beneath the dome. On the ceiling, a system of little baskets running on rails recalls the days when sales staff weren’t allowed to handle money: payments whizzed off to a separate room run by the bookkeepers. Behind the tills at the back, two murals show the Emporiums of California and Florida, dated 1855 and 1871, a hundred years before Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Outside, one window reads "Elias Disney - Contractor - Est. 1895", a tribute to Walt’s father, and the upstairs windows tell you that Pongo works there as a volunteer firefighter.
The range covers most of the park’s categories: souvenirs, mugs, figurines, soft toys, stationery, Disney ears, pins, adult and children’s clothing, accessories, costumes, dolls, tableware, seasonal items and the Disney PhotoPass+ service.
A glass dome decorated with portraits of inventors. The central glass dome, held up by a gilded metal frame, bears the names and portraits of famous inventors, a subtle tribute to the century of innovation that Main Street U.S.A. recreates. Four separate entrances lead into this, the biggest shop in the park, which covers almost every kind of Disney souvenir across several large connecting spaces.
What you’ll find
History
The Emporium opened on 12 April 1992 with the park. The street next to it, Edison Street, is named after Thomas Edison and marks the switch from gas lamps to electric street lights along Main Street, just as at the turn of the twentieth century.
Theme & story
Who it’s for
Pros and cons
Strong points
- The largest shop floor in Disneyland Park
- The most complete range of products in the park, with a PhotoPass+ service
- Detailed architecture with a glass dome, murals and rails for cash baskets on the ceiling
Weak points
- Very crowded at the end of the day and during the parades
- Loud because of the number of visitors
- Finding products can take a while because there are so many categories
My verdict
The park’s department store, and full of details. Look up: the portraits of inventors under the dome, the little car that used to carry money along its rails on the ceiling… and for a while, a Toy Story soldier was even hiding in the decor.
The one real downside: it’s often very busy, and the aisles get narrow at peak times. Aim for park opening or the quieter mid-afternoon.
Julie’s tip
Best time to visit
Aim for park opening or mid-afternoon: at the end of the day, it’s one of the most crowded shops in the park as everyone does their last-minute shopping.

Your questions about this shop
01 Where can you shop for Disney merchandise at Disneyland Paris?
You have four main options: the shops in Disneyland Park (mainly on Main Street U.S.A. and in each land), the shops in Disney Adventure World, the shops in Disney Village (no park ticket needed) and your hotel shop if you’re staying at an official Disney Hotel. I go through the main shops in my dedicated article.
02 Can you shop without carrying your bags all day?
Yes. The Shopping Service lets you have your purchases sent to a collection point, to pick up later in the shop, or as you leave the park in another shop, or even in the shop at your Disney Hotel. The service is free in most shops (above a minimum spend). Just ask the sales assistant when you pay.
03 What are the shops’ opening hours?
The shops in the parks roughly follow the parks’ opening hours, often opening a little earlier on Main Street U.S.A. and closing a little later after the night-time show. The Disney Village shops have their own opening hours, usually later into the evening. The exact times are in the Disneyland Paris app.
04 Can you order Disneyland Paris merchandise online?
There’s no official Disneyland Paris online shop. To buy from home, you can go to the Disney Store website (formerly shopDisney), which sells official Disney merchandise and sometimes a few Disneyland Paris-specific products. At the resort, you buy directly in the shops.
