Your Disneyland Pass on your phone: the digital pass explained

The digital pass is your Disneyland Pass as a QR code, linked to your Disney account and shown in the Disneyland Paris app. You show it at the entrance without a card, but it’s still in your name only. I’ll explain how to add it and, above all, what happens at the turnstile if your phone battery is flat, if a screenshot doesn’t work or if you switch phones.

The digital pass: what is it exactly?

The digital pass is simply your Disneyland Pass in paperless form: a QR code linked to your Disney account, which you display in the Disneyland Paris app and show at the entrance, without a card. No need to carry the physical card any more, your phone is enough day to day. The same QR code does several jobs: getting into the parks at the turnstiles, getting your discounts at the shop and restaurant tills and, depending on your pass, getting into the car park.

At the car park, you also show your QR code, either to a Cast Member at the booth or at an automatic machine.

It has been available since 19 July 2023, when the Disneyland Pass range arrived. Good news if you have an older pass: it also works for the previous ranges (Infinity, Magic Plus, Magic Flex and Discovery).

The QR code itself doesn’t live in your phone but in your Disney account: you’ll find it in the app under the Account tab, then My Annual Passes, and it also shows on the home screen.

One thing to be clear about: I’m talking about the pass itself here, not the whole app. If you want the full guide to the app (bookings, services, map), see my guide to the Disneyland Paris app. Booking your visit dates is something else again, which I cover in my guide to booking your visit dates. For everything about the Disneyland Pass as a whole, I recommend the complete Disneyland Pass guide.

Adding and finding your pass in the app (step by step)

Step 1

Open the Account tab and sign in

Open the Disneyland Paris app on your phone. At the bottom right, tap the "Account" tab, then the "Sign in" button. Everything goes through here: your pass is linked to your account, not to your phone.

Step 2

Enter your Disney login details

Enter the email address and password of the Disney account linked to your pass, then confirm with "Log in". Make sure you use the account the pass was bought on, as that’s the one that holds the QR code.

Step 3

Find your pass in My Annual Passes

Once you’re signed in, your pass appears in "My Annual Passes" (and on the app’s home screen). If it isn’t there yet, tap "Add Ticket or Stay" to link it to your account. Once linked, it stays there: the QR code to show at the turnstile is on the pass’s page.

Your pass is in your name: you can’t lend it

At the turnstile, several phones, switching devices

At the entrance, you simply show your pass’s QR code to the turnstile reader, from the app. As mentioned above, you may be asked for ID, so keep it on you.

You can display your pass on two phones. As the pass is linked to your Disney account (not to a particular device), you just sign in to the same account on a second phone to find your QR code there. It’s handy, for example, when my partner and I each want to show our own pass without relying on a single device.

Watch out, this doesn’t let two people in on the same pass: each pass stays personal.

If you change phones, you don’t lose your pass. It lives in your account, not in the device: just install the app on the new phone and sign back in to your Disney account to find it. Nothing to link again.

Don’t confuse this with the choice between fully digital and the physical card, which is made when you renew: that’s covered in my guide to renewing or changing your Disneyland Pass. Here, I’m talking about everyday use, once you have your pass.

Flat battery at the entrance: plan ahead

A screenshot of the QR code doesn’t work

Tempting, on paper: take a screenshot of your QR code to have it to hand. Except it doesn’t work. The QR code disappears as soon as you try to capture it, which is a deliberate security measure. The screenshot you get won’t open the turnstile.

To get in, you need to display the QR code live in the app, signed in to your account. In practice, make sure you have your phone with you, the app installed and up to date and an internet connection when you go through the turnstile.

That’s also why your battery matters so much (see the previous point): no backup screenshot will do, it’s the open app that counts at the entrance.

Physical card or fully digital

The digital pass works on its own. The QR code shown in the app opens the turnstiles and gives you your discounts, exactly like a card. So there’s nothing extra you have to ask for: your phone does the job day to day.

If you’d rather keep a physical version, the plastic card is still available. It’s free, you just ask for it at a desk at the park entrance, with no complicated process.

I see two good reasons to have one despite the digital pass. Some people simply like holding an object and keeping it in a wallet. Above all, it’s a welcome backup the day your phone lets you down (flat battery, cracked screen, app playing up). Having the card in your bag means you’ll get in whatever happens.

Digital and card aren’t mutually exclusive: you can perfectly well use the QR code day to day and keep the card as a spare. The choice between the two mainly comes up when you renew, and I go into it in my guide to renewing or changing your Disneyland Pass.

When the app glitches: what to do

  • Blank QR code or frozen screen Force-close the app, then open it again. In most cases, the QR code comes back normally.
  • Check you’re on the right account The pass is linked to the Disney account it was bought on. If the QR code doesn’t appear, make sure you’re signed in with the right details, and not on another family member’s account.
  • Check the pass is properly linked The pass must appear in My Annual Passes. If it doesn’t, add it with Add Ticket or Stay to link it to your account.
  • Update the app and check your connection An outdated version or a patchy network can stop it displaying. Remember to test your internet connection before you reach the turnstile.
  • Don’t worry: the pass stays in your account A display bug never makes your pass disappear. It’s stored in your Disney account, not on your phone: you won’t lose it.

Booking your dates from the same place

Showing your QR code to get in and booking your visit dates happen in the same place (the app or the website), but they are two separate steps. One opens the turnstiles on the day, the other guarantees your place when a booking is required. For everything about that second step, see my guide to booking your visit dates.

Frequently asked questions

01 Where does the Disneyland Pass show on your phone?

Your digital pass lives in the Disneyland Paris app, linked to your Disney account. You’ll find it in the Account tab, under My Annual Passes, and on the app’s home screen. The pass page holds the QR Code to show at the entrance. You need to be logged in to your account for it to appear.

02 Does the digital pass also work for parking and discounts?

Yes. The same QR Code does several jobs: getting into the parks at the turnstiles, getting your discounts at the tills in shops and restaurants and, depending on your pass, getting into the car park. At the car park, you show your QR Code to a Cast Member at the booth or at an automatic barrier.

03 Can you lend your digital pass to someone else?

No. The Disneyland Pass is strictly personal and non-transferable (terms and conditions, art. 3.1). The QR Code is linked to your name, and you may be asked for ID each time you use it. Showing it on someone else’s phone doesn’t make it shareable: entry is refused if the pass isn’t in the name of the person presenting it.

04 What happens if my phone battery is dead at the entrance?

It’s up to you to have enough battery to show your pass at the turnstile. If your phone is flat, you can hire a power bank at Disney Village. My tip: slip a portable charger into your bag before the day. It’s the simplest way to avoid getting stuck.

05 Is a screenshot of the QR Code enough to get in?

No, a screenshot doesn’t work. The QR Code disappears as soon as you try to capture it: it’s a security feature. You need to be logged in to your account and show the QR Code live in the app. So make sure you have your phone, the app up to date and an internet connection when you go through the turnstile.

06 Can you have the pass on two phones?

Yes. As the pass is linked to your Disney account, you can show it on two phones by logging in to the same account (for example yours and your partner’s). Watch out: this doesn’t let two people in. The pass is still in one person’s name only.

07 How do I get my pass back when I change phone?

Just log back in to your Disney account in the app on your new phone. There’s nothing to relink: your pass is saved in your account, not on the device. So you never lose it when you change phone.
