Toad Hall Restaurant: the fish and chips manor

The English manor-style quick-service restaurant tucked away at the back of Fantasyland: crispy battered fish, chunky chips and British desserts, served among the eccentric portraits of J. Thaddeus Toad.

At a glance

Toad Hall Restaurant is a quick-service restaurant in Fantasyland, in Disneyland Park. Its theme comes from the Disney film "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" (1949), itself adapted from Kenneth Grahame’s novel "The Wind in the Willows", and more precisely from the home of Mr Toad, the eccentric owner of Toad Hall.

The exterior recreates a brick English manor with slate roofs, carved chimneys, decorative toad statues, coats of arms and a helmet topped with a crown. Inside, it feels like a quaint old English inn, with wood panelling, colourful diamond-pane stained glass, Victorian-style lamps, red tapestries, green chairs and paintings of Mr Toad and his friends.

What makes it stand out

Mr Toad’s British manor. This large brick building imitates an English stately home from the film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. The dining rooms are full of eccentric paintings and pretty Victorian stained glass. The menu focuses on quick British food, with generous portions of fried fish and chips.

History

Opened on 12 April 1992, Toad Hall Restaurant is directly inspired by Toad Hall from the 1949 film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.

Its typically British exterior (Tudor style) and its interior, rich in wood panelling and nods to Mr Toad, have never been changed. The restaurant has kept its original speciality, English fish and chips, throughout its history.

My verdict

Toad Hall Restaurant is a British counter service restaurant in Fantasyland, themed on Mr Toad’s manor, and the only place in the park for fish and chips. Its strength is the detailed English inn setting, often quieter than the other counter service restaurants.

I’ve eaten here several times and it’s one of the cheapest quick-service restaurants in the park, at around €12 per adult and €8 per child, in a spot open since 1992. British food is rare elsewhere in the park and the queue is often shorter, perfect while you wait for a Meet Mickey slot. The menu has little variety and the opening hours are short. The manor setting is well worth a look.

I recommend it for an affordable meal and for fish and chips fans. Less suited if you want plenty of choice or a very varied menu.

Your questions about this restaurant

01 Where can you eat cheaply in the Disneyland Paris parks?

To keep costs down, go for the quick-service counters rated €. Casey’s Corner serves hot dogs on Main Street, Café Hyperion does burgers and nuggets in Discoveryland, Colonel Hathi’s Outpost Restaurant serves pizza slices in Adventureland, and Cowboy Cookout Barbecue in Frontierland is still a good deal. Over at Disney Adventure World, Stark Factory and Super Diner remain affordable. Tip: Mobile Order (Click & Collect) in the app also lets you order at some counters without having to queue. And if you’re a bit peckish, a snack (waffle, churros, ice cream) for €5 to €10 does the job nicely.

02 Are there kids’ menus in the Disney restaurants?

Yes, almost all Disneyland Paris restaurants offer a child price (ages 3-11). In the all-you-can-eat buffets, children pay around half price: Agrabah Café at €25, Cape Cod at €25, La Cantina at €20. Classic table-service restaurants also have a children’s set menu with a suitable starter, main course and dessert. At the quick-service counters, you’ll find kids’ set meals with a drink and a dessert included. You can ask for a high chair when you book, using the "special request" field.

03 Are there vegetarian and vegan options in the Disneyland Paris restaurants?

Yes, more and more Disneyland Paris restaurants offer vegetarian and vegan options. The Lucky Nugget Saloon in Frontierland serves a full vegan set menu, and Toad Hall Restaurant in Fantasyland has really nice breaded plant-based crispy bites. Most other table-service restaurants and buffets have at least one vegetarian dish on the menu. Simpler buffets such as Agrabah Café or Cape Cod also offer meat-free alternatives. To check the details, download my free file by email with all the Disneyland Paris restaurant menus: that way you can spot the veggie options before your visit.

04 How much does a meal cost at Disneyland Paris?

Prices vary a lot depending on the type of restaurant. As a rough guide (prices change), allow around €15 to €25 per adult at a quick-service counter (€), €30 to €50 at a classic table-service restaurant (€€), and €60 and over at the premium buffets or signature restaurants (€€€ and €€€€). To give you some concrete benchmarks: the Agrabah Café buffet is €45 per adult / €25 per child, Cape Cod €45 / €25, La Cantina €35 / €20. Character dining set menus such as Auberge de Cendrillon go up to €60-95 per adult. For snacks (ice cream, waffle, churros), allow €5 to €10. These ranges are approximate, and you can check the exact price on each restaurant’s menu.
