At a glance
Colonel Hathi’s Outpost Restaurant is a counter service restaurant at the far end of Adventureland, in Disneyland Park, close to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. The frontage pays tribute to Colonel Hathi, the character from The Jungle Book (1967), while the interior keeps the theme of its former name, the Explorers Club, as a tribute to nineteenth-century explorers.
The restaurant has a large indoor dining room built around a central tree where two animated toucans come to life from time to time, with murals telling the adventures of explorers of old. There’s also a covered terrace shaded by bamboo overlooking the Adventureland jungle, and a large sunny outdoor terrace.
It’s quick service at the counter, with a menu centred on pizzas, Indian dishes (not spicy) and salads. The restaurant offers Click & Collect through the mobile app.
Colonial explorers’ setting. This large counter service restaurant is built around a central tree that is home to animatronic toucans. You can tuck into pizzas, pasta and mild curry dishes inspired by India. It has large covered terraces surrounded by bamboo at the far end of Adventureland, close to the busiest major rides.

History
The space has been in use since the park opened on 12 April 1992. Originally, the building housed the Explorers Club, a restaurant with a colonial African theme.
In 1995, the restaurant was renamed Colonel Hathi’s Pizza Outpost after the character from The Jungle Book, and the menu switched to pizza and pasta, before moving more recently to Indian dishes.

My verdict
Colonel Hathi’s Outpost Restaurant is an Adventureland counter service restaurant that mainly serves pizzas and Indian dishes in an explorers’ setting inspired by The Jungle Book. Its strong point is its many dining rooms and terraces, some of them covered, handy whatever the weather.
I’ve eaten here several times and the expedition setting really works, even if the direct nods to the film are subtle. Allow around €17 per adult and €10 per child in this restaurant, open since 1994, with a Click & Collect service that comes in very handy at peak times. The menu mostly revolves around pizzas, so there isn’t much variety, and the queue can get long at lunchtime. The large indoor dining room is a good fallback when it’s cold.
I recommend it for a quick sit-down family break under cover. Less suited if you’re after variety or strongly themed food.

Your questions about this restaurant
01 Where can you eat cheaply in the Disneyland Paris parks?
To keep costs down, go for the quick-service counters rated €. Casey’s Corner serves hot dogs on Main Street, Café Hyperion does burgers and nuggets in Discoveryland, Colonel Hathi’s Outpost Restaurant serves pizza slices in Adventureland, and Cowboy Cookout Barbecue in Frontierland is still a good deal. Over at Disney Adventure World, Stark Factory and Super Diner remain affordable. Tip: Mobile Order (Click & Collect) in the app also lets you order at some counters without having to queue. And if you’re a bit peckish, a snack (waffle, churros, ice cream) for €5 to €10 does the job nicely.
02 Are there kids’ menus in the Disney restaurants?
Yes, almost all Disneyland Paris restaurants offer a child price (ages 3-11). In the all-you-can-eat buffets, children pay around half price: Agrabah Café at €25, Cape Cod at €25, La Cantina at €20. Classic table-service restaurants also have a children’s set menu with a suitable starter, main course and dessert. At the quick-service counters, you’ll find kids’ set meals with a drink and a dessert included. You can ask for a high chair when you book, using the "special request" field.
03 Are there vegetarian and vegan options in the Disneyland Paris restaurants?
Yes, more and more Disneyland Paris restaurants offer vegetarian and vegan options. The Lucky Nugget Saloon in Frontierland serves a full vegan set menu, and Toad Hall Restaurant in Fantasyland has really nice breaded plant-based crispy bites. Most other table-service restaurants and buffets have at least one vegetarian dish on the menu. Simpler buffets such as Agrabah Café or Cape Cod also offer meat-free alternatives. To check the details, download my free file by email with all the Disneyland Paris restaurant menus: that way you can spot the veggie options before your visit.
04 Where can you get an afternoon snack or a quick bite in the parks?
The parks are full of kiosks and snack stands for when you’re a bit peckish. For something sweet, there’s Cookie Kitchen on Main Street U.S.A., March Hare Refreshments in Fantasyland, waffle and churros stands just about everywhere, and roaming popcorn and ice cream sellers. For something savoury, the hot dogs at Casey’s Corner. Allow €5 to €10 per snack. Little tip: some stands sell reusable collectible popcorn buckets that make lovely souvenirs and give you refills at a reduced price all day.
05 How much does a meal cost at Disneyland Paris?
Prices vary a lot depending on the type of restaurant. As a rough guide (prices change), allow around €15 to €25 per adult at a quick-service counter (€), €30 to €50 at a classic table-service restaurant (€€), and €60 and over at the premium buffets or signature restaurants (€€€ and €€€€). To give you some concrete benchmarks: the Agrabah Café buffet is €45 per adult / €25 per child, Cape Cod €45 / €25, La Cantina €35 / €20. Character dining set menus such as Auberge de Cendrillon go up to €60-95 per adult. For snacks (ice cream, waffle, churros), allow €5 to €10. These ranges are approximate, and you can check the exact price on each restaurant’s menu.
