At a glance
This is a water ride that takes place entirely indoors. You board small wooden boats to explore the world of the film Frozen. The ride uses highly sophisticated animated characters, projections and special effects to bring the story to life.
The story is set after the events of the first film, as Queen Elsa throws a big party to celebrate the day she saved her kingdom. You sail through familiar settings such as the Valley of the Trolls and the ice palace. Along the way you’ll see Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven getting ready for the festivities in a cheerful atmosphere.
The journey is set to the famous songs from the film. Although it’s a calm ride most of the time, the boat makes a few unusual moves, such as going backwards and a small forward drop. Frozen Ever After relies on emotion and visual immersion to please children and adults alike.
Good to know. The water in the boat ride runs in a closed loop.
The new boat ride through Arendelle. A Viking boat travels through the snowy forest, Elsa’s ice palace and the bay of Arendelle, with songs from the film and the latest animatronics. A backwards section and short drops liven up the ride. The headline attraction of the new Disney Adventure World, best booked with Premier Access.
History
Opened on 29 March 2026 in the World of Frozen area, Frozen Ever After is a scenic boat ride inspired by the film Frozen (2013). It opened on the day the Walt Disney Studios park was renamed Disney Adventure World.
The ride first opened at Epcot (Walt Disney World) on 21 June 2016, where it replaced the Maelstrom ride (1988-2014), then at Hong Kong Disneyland (2023) and, under another name, at Tokyo DisneySea (2024). The Paris version is almost identical to the Epcot one.

Premier Access, Single Rider, PhotoPass
Skip the regular queue whenever you like. Handy in peak season, when the wait often goes over 60 minutes.
"Single rider" queue: you fill the empty single seats, often much faster than the regular queue.
Automatic photos taken during the ride, to collect after you get off.
Usually open during this slot before the park opens to the public, reserved for Disney hotel guests and Disneyland Pass Gold holders, among others. The right time to ride it with a shorter queue.

Pros and cons
Strong points
- Very smooth new-generation animated characters

Weak points
- Very long queue times because the film is so popular
- Light splashes possible on the final drop
- The backwards section can surprise younger children
My verdict
Frozen Ever After is a scenic boat ride inspired by Frozen, through Arendelle, the snowy forest and Elsa’s ice palace, with songs from the film and new-generation animatronics. It opened on 29 March 2026 in the World of Frozen area and lasts 7 minutes. Single Rider and Premier Access are available.
I love this ride: the journey, the smoothness of the new-generation animatronics and the on-board technology make it a great dark ride, on a par with the Epcot version, which is regularly named among the best in the world. My tip for this hugely popular new ride: near the end of the queue, take the left-hand line: it often moves faster. Watch out for light splashes on the final drop, and for the backwards section, which can surprise the youngest. Queue times are still very long in 2026, so plan ahead with Premier Access.

Your questions about this ride
01 How can you avoid long queues for the most popular rides?
To avoid long queues at Disneyland Paris, I combine several tactics. First, Single Rider is free and really speeds things up on the rides that offer it, including Crush’s Coaster, Flight Force, Ratatouille and Spider-Man, as long as you’re happy not to ride with your group. Next, Disney Premier Access is a paid service that gives you priority access to the headline rides. If you’re staying in a Disney hotel, Extra Magic Time lets you into the park before official opening, and it’s the best time to ride the popular attractions back to back without queuing. Finally, heading to the most popular rides during a parade or a big show empties the queues considerably.
02 Are the queue times shown in the park reliable?
Yes, the queue times shown in the app or on the screens around the park are generally reliable. They’re often the same as, or slightly longer than, the real wait, which helps you plan your day better.
03 How can I find out if a ride will be closed for refurbishment during my trip?
Disneyland Paris publishes the list of rides closed for refurbishment on its official website, several weeks in advance. Because the parks are open all year round, the maintenance teams sometimes work on days when the parks are open, which leads to temporary closures. My advice: check this calendar (or the one on my blog) before booking, especially if there’s one particular ride you really care about.
04 Which rides might scare young children?
Several rides at Disneyland Paris can frighten young children even without a height restriction. Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains, in Fantasyland, has dark scenes with the witch that can catch them off guard. Les Voyages de Pinocchio also has some unsettling scenes. La Tanière du Dragon, under Sleeping Beauty Castle, is home to a very impressive animatronic dragon. Phantom Manor, in Frontierland, plays on a ghostly atmosphere and is really intense for toddlers. Pirates of the Caribbean switches between cheerful moments and darker scenes. I’d suggest watching how your child reacts before you get on.
05 How far in advance does Disneyland Paris announce ride closures?
Disneyland Paris publishes the list of ride closures around 2 to 3 months in advance. For major rides, the park tells visitors about planned construction work at least two months before it starts. I recommend checking the official calendar (or my dedicated page) a few weeks before your visit, as dates can change. That way you avoid the nasty surprise of finding out on the day that your favourite ride is being refurbished.
